Although a loan is undoubtedly not free, I'd argue that an investment is something outside of an agreed budget with a view to making that back (and more) through a later sale of said player or promotion this season. To that end, I'm gonna have to side with Fordy this time. Everything else is spending the budget. We've not (yet) "invested" this window.

It is a fair point by DA and for once I am with him, he did not give these 'substantial ' contracts to various players and if they are 1) happy just to sit on them or2) there is no interest from other clubs there is not a lot he can do.
What is not in doubt is it will free up a lot of funds this summer when we can finally get shut of them

I'd put Evans firmly in number 1. He's going to be 34 in April so I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's thinking about hanging up his boots in the summer.

Agree, the club will pay a part of the salary of the player. The club they leave, will want to reduce their own expenditure, so they can recruit an alternative player.
I would add ROD as another, now we have signed Bass, he has in effect dropped to third choice. Both of them could go now and potentially secure an 18 month contract.

We have invested in the budget to try and achieve an aim

‘Investment’ suggests that additional funds have been used, which were not identified in the Season’s budget.
I see no actual evidence that more money has been spent.
    Nothing from Sparks.
We are told that the club has a policy of functioning on a ‘sustainable’ budget, so unless we have had a substantial windfall, then City will be operating on the basis that any sums being spent, are within the total amount allocated to the playing budget.

So we have signed 5 players and let 2 go , Crankshaw and Sikora , if you count his £350 per week and we have not increased the budget and the loan players are costing zero.
I wish i could increase my workforce by three members at no extra cost.
    Spark's and Adam's are miracle workers .

That's why I didn't put ROD in number 1. I think he'll be keen to move on if he can get a deal sorted, whereas I don't think Evans has any interest in doing that and would rather just sit his contract out.

I'm not so sure I'd bracket Daly with Walker. Evidently he's been anonymous so far and was recalled by Hudds because he'd dropped out of the reckoning at Hartlepool.

I would be surprised if the cost of the loans was not substantial, Around £200k would be my estimate with wages or part wages and insurance covered by City till the end of the season.

what are the lottery numbers for tonight,
We might yet finish in the bottom half, nobody knows. Hopefully we can now push on up the table and try and reach the playoffs

There's almost certainly not that clause in any of their contracts, isn't it pretty much an urban myth they exist anyway?

    Agree

    Significantly??

Oh come on, Park. Stop over exaggerating.

I'd agree with you more if you were more realistic at times.

Some telling comments from Adams in the t&a today- "I didn't take some of these these players to the club. These players were here before i came and some of them are on decent wages-more than what you would expect.
Thats something i have to address in the summer."

City looking to cut down on decent wages, going cheap is gong to send us up the league?
    Another player budget cut?
Got to stop these players getting a decent wage, eh.

You can stick any clauses you want in a contract, up to the other club whether they accept it or not. You have no more idea than I do whether any clauses exist, all I'm saying is I wouldn't be surprised if they do, especially given that playing Walker and Daly together so far has resulted in one of them being played out of their preferred position.

Cheap doesn't always mean worse. Look at some of the dross we have on high wages like Evans and probably rod

Adams doing Sparks and Rupps dirty work for them, they’ll be very happy with this article wonder is he’ll get a bonus like in the US version of the Office when he sacks someone?
