If we still have an expectation of challenging for a promotion then imo neither Lavery nor Robinson are up to it. Cook still looks unfit and doesn't play the lone striker role at all well. Added to that, another long term injury for him doesn't look too far away.

On the issue of loans, all loanees count in the matchday limit of 5. We're one away from that at the mo if they are all named in the matchday squad. So far as the squad limit itself is concerned, all loanees count towards the limit if they meet the age constraints. Of course, if the squad limit does become an issue (I personally don't believe it will), we could always deregister one or more of the over age players to stay within the limit. Evans might well fit the bill if he can't be moved on!

Thirty seconds in a room or on the phone with Adams would be enough without playing for him as well.

The impression I get from what Adams says is that we were looking for a striker pre Angol's injury but instead of now looking for two, we're putting a bit more effort in looking for the one. I hope I'm wrong.

Think this confirms what I was trying to point out mate, that contracted list scares the s... out of me! It'll be the summer after before we are shut of some of the worst players at the club.
Truly depressing and if Adams really had the final say on last summers signings then shame on you 'Mr I know what needs sorting '

Not sure how reliable it was as the sites iffy for lower league stuff, but on footy 365 last week someone who's past posts had mainly been about the league said that Northern Irish side Crusaders were in talks to sign Lavery.

Wonder if Angols injury means we just keep him as an option now? And rather than sign the striker we wanted and another to replace Angol, we just go all in for one forward and keep lavery and Robinson around as bench fillers if needed?

Walker and Daly(if he was played in his correct position are arguably better than any loanee we got last season most of who barely got a kick, so what’s your excuse for last January when Adams wasn’t here? We aren’t an attractive proposition due to lack of willingness to pay a high proportion of wages and because we’re seen as a crisis club, only 3 or 4 have fallen further in the last 4 years. Clubs don’t want players to go to failing clubs. Your agenda to blame everything on Adams is as tiresome as blaming everything on R O’D once they’ve both gone you’ll have to find someone else. As if Rupp is here it will continue that I promise. Our budget will be slashed further next season when people like my friends and I vote with our feet and effect the budget even more.

Think we will try ship out Kelleher, the kids are what they are. He seems to trust Songo'o, Ridehalgh & Gilly, he'll be happy with them in the squad. Cook is a must when fit and Hornby as back up. Probably 5 of that list will be in our 18 squad more often that not?

Threlkeld is a weird one, he was pretty open about his mental health struggles over the past few years, maybe still effected? Also doesn't help that other than filling in twice at Salford, he hasn't played Right Back for 3 seasons and his winger (Gilliead) tracks back once in a blue moon. Doesn't excuse his terrible performances so far, but just very weird we pinned our RB slot on a guy who hasn't played it for so long.

Adams didn't sign all those players, anyone can see that this summer jade just a weird flavour to the signings and the answer at that forum was the only onw he can give in public, very based on 'ignore the who's and whys, it's my squad and my choices from now'. He doesn't gain anything from pointing the finger in public at Turnbull as then makes it publicly clear there are turnbulls players in his team, his few and the left overs from the past, no point in publicly creating divides. Best thing he could do to answer that question was just to front it out and show he's the manager.

You mean like Daly coming in, finding out there's already a player in his position (Walker) and has such a disorganised first half, clueless because of the tactics that have been set up by the manager, he gets pulled at half time. That sort of player? Lord Luton has probably gone into hiding, because he doesn't want to embarrass himself on the pitch bumping into his own players! Such a farce this set up is, I wouldn't be suprised to see the new keeper named on the bench along side ROD while Hornby plays between the sticks!

And while we're at it, if we signed a striker to play up top as a target man, perhaps Angol wouldn't have to chase for so many aimless balls forward on his own, giving his hamstrings an uneccesary workout! It's only a matter of time before Cook goes through the same injury, and if that happens and we haven't signed another forward, we're fecked.

Agree re we are short of cover. But Lavery has hardly got any game time? Robinson’s spent more time in the pitch and aside from a worldy at Swindon seems good at chasing shadows but little else?

Point proven ffs. No money to spend. Don’t even bother with rest of season. Owners have given up on it. One cheap loan incoming

So you’re going to judge the quality of a player based on a sole 45 minutes of him playing in a new team? Let me remind you of a certain winger we signed in our first season back in League 1 with Parky. His name was Mark Yeates. That first game he played against Carlisle he looked like a world beater. But ever since then he was a mediocre League 1/2 player with the odd flashes of brilliance here an there. The point is simple. Don’t judge a book by its cover. Daly is a young lad, its his first full season of playing pro an he’s changed teams. Players take time to adapt to new surroundings an managers take time in knowing how to get the best out of players that they bring in. Writing Daly off at this stage is idiotic to put it lightly.

As for the lad from Luton. Its clear Rupp aint anybodies cup of tea an we all know how tight of a budget is. Do you really think Adams is gonna waste whatever precious resources he has on a winger he has no intention of playing? of course not. Now there’s contradicting stories going around, he may be recovering from illness, it may be Yeovil pt 2 etc etc. Why don’t you actually judge him when he’s actually played a game for us rather than slagging him off before he’s kicked a ball

Finally, The goalkeeper. If some of you muppets actually did research rather than acting like this is Fifa, You’d know that Pompey fans rate the keeper highly. An some believe he has what it takes to step up into League 1 let alone play in League 2. He’l be a starter. Whether He plays the game we have tomorrow remains to be seen but after that he’l be our number 1.

I wonder who is going to play second fiddle? We don't need a bass player, we need a conductor on the field! Actually, we need one off it too!

The management rate him that much they signed a loan keeper to play as number one. It’s rubbish. They always stuff like that about signings. Hardly gonna say he’s rubbish are they? He’s probably better than what we’ve got and if we sign him in the summer that would be good. Hardly needed now though in my opinion. Should have got two in on loan up top

We had Pickford on loan, How did that work out? Oh yeah he’s England’s no.1 an plays week in week out in the Premier League

From the top of my head, I remember seeing Sam Johnstone playing on loan for a few league 1 clubs. Yeovil being one of them I think. Think he’s first choice at West Brom right now.

I struggle to see the point your making about loan keepers being adequate no.1s?

I like Andy Cook as a player but although some of it might be sour grapes, several Mansfield fans said he likes his kebabs.

I'd say us "FIFA managers" have done pretty alright so far! Robinson, Lavery, Threlkeld, Kelleher, Eisa all got found out pretty quickly. Angol had flashes, but we were all worried about his injury record...and that proved correct. ROD and Hornby aren't pulling up any trees and have both been questioned - so much so, that a new keeper has been brought in. Canavan has gone down hill quickly, and that was also mentioned after a few disappointing displays. The only one that has suprised us, is Songo'o. He came here with a good rep, and we were all pretty positive about that, but sadly, he's been about as good as Akpan. So yeah, I think we do have a right to question a signing after 45 mins of not doing anything (altho in this case, I was more questioning the tactics of the manager). Would love to have a go at the Luton lad, and I would love him to prove me wrong, but for that to happen, he needs to get on the pitch first!

If he’s good enough for league one now why is he not playing for Pompey? That’s my point. I don’t care if he plays for England in ten years or not
