January transfer window

I was hoping we were gunna bring in genuine quality into each position that needed filling this window, including keeper. Hope the lad proves me wrong, but often Pompeys second or third choice and his only loan spells were in non league. Doesn’t scream better than we have and screams all done to cut costs. For all the talk of us not being prepared this window it does sound like we’ve tried to sign strikers but being turned down, I wonder why…

 

Trying to get players in for free or next to nothing, absolutely no investment in our squad for the last 8 years and it shows. If you pay peanuts you get cart horses not thoroughbreds.

 

This Club is crying out for aspirational leadership.

How do you know? Not saying I know, but my Pompey supporting friend says he’s a cracking keeper and good enough to be in their team now. Trust his judgement to be honest.

That said - right back, old bugger bossing it in the midfield and a forward (who can improve our first 11) bare minimum are way ahead of a keeper in terms of priorities

In terms of why we seem to be going for loans only, it's now seemingly fairly obvious Adams wants a clear out in the summer. I don't think he wants to sign anyone on anything longer than 6 months so he isn't stuck with more crap. Obviously nobody will ever say it publicly, but it just feels like the attitude towards the rest of the season is, go for play offs in the knowledge the team is mid table at best and hope for some luck. Almost written off.

Look at the list of out of contract players this summer, it's looking like a mammoth clear out is coming our way. Unless something great drops our way in the market, he won't be throwing 18 month contracts at anyone.

Yes with Kelleher being the stand out. How he ended up with a 2 year contract beggers belief.

 

I think he has scored in the last two but only has low single figures for the season. I didn’t realise he started the last game though. He has been getting 10 or 15 minutes at the end of games, I just figure that with the arrival of a new striker he won’t get much game time. I will also be supposed if the don’t get another striker.

 

Maybe we struggle for good loan players because playing for Adams puts them off,
