Makes me laugh there were many on here extolling the signings Salford were making in the summer saying what a great season they were going to have. They have a long way to go yet despite piling in the cash

 

Why we are in play off position thought you was happy with what we had. You said we only needed Clayton back and we would take this league by storm don't start wanting a midfielder and another striker now.

 

Totally agree. However, judging from all the 'missing you already' comments, you'd think we'd just lost our best players ever

Doyle had a decent game against Scunthorpe and was unlucky with that offside goal - but if he's that fantastic, you make it work

I always got the impression that Vaughan thought he was too good for L2, as illustrated by his constant moaning at the ref

Definitely, would rather have Donaldson out of the three - but then we need some pace alongside him

 

Doyle’s goal scoring record this season alone is enough to make Agard a downgrade. Throw Vaughan, our highest goal scorer and third most prolific striker in the league into the mix as well and I’m not sure this is really up for debate. Doyle and Vaughan in exchange for Agard is not a great price of business, and that’s got little to do with Agard as a player.

As I say, it’s all about context.

 

We will see what difference Donaldson will make he certainly did the other night

 

Doylem has done absolutely nothing for us in 18 months we won’t miss him granted Vaughan will be missed

Yeah but in context, Doyle couldn't score for us. So it was rather useless having Doyle here when he can't/won't score. If Agard scores in his first game he would've provided more for us than Doyle has.

 

Agard scored 20 in 43 in this league last season and he's only recently turned 30. Managed properly, he could be an asset, even in L1- remember Tilson the manager who got him going again, got sacked.

He's a pacy and very mobile, perfectly suited to pair with Donaldson and a far better fit with our team than Doyle - although in fairness, that partnership might have worked

But I'd rather have Agard paired up with Donaldson than either Vaughan or Doyle

Can't see it happening though. They'll want a full transfer and that means us paying £8-10K wages

We'd have been better signing Harold Faltermeyer.

 

Wouldn't mind Agard at all, scored 20 last season in L2.

For reference, Nahki scored 10 and then 18 in his 2 seasons for us in L2

What does it tell you when we can’t get the best out of the most prolific striker in the land? All strikers have a thankless task here and it’ll be no different for Novak and Agard if we signed him. If we did suddenly start supplying our front men we are a potentially far more lethal team With Doyle and Vaughan in the team.

We did supply them - with the football from deep at or over head height - where it was a struggle for the out going duo against the bigger physical defenders.

 

Now he has signed for swindon perm he might feel a bit more pressure to score which could impact his confidence
