If the tales at the time were true Charlie said he would not play again for Bradford City under Rahic, maybe the best for both parties if true.

We literally have a dedicated Doyle thread yet we clutter this one with posts about him.

The manager. Don't have to look any further than that. Put him in a creative team and he'd be on 15+ gets absolutely no service with GB's tactics. Don't really know why you'd sign him on a 3 year deal on big money no doubt and then not play to his strengths? The mind boggles.

Completely agree. To my mind, I think Vaughan is the better player. Serviced correctly, he'd score plenty.

Interesting to see Bowyer's comments this morning about wanting to be better in the attacking third. I read that as him wanting better finishing. But I look at how we attack compared to other teams - we dont get bodies into the box. Other teams get 3,4, even 5 bodies into the box when they attack. We have Vaughan.

Bowyer has to be careful about what he wants here, his method of playing can be like having teeth pulled but it has become effective. Very rarely do we look like conceding. But if he is looking at being better in the attacking third that will have to have a detrimental affect on his set up because it is being hard to beat that is his M.O. Is he willing to sacrifice some of that solidity at the back in the pursuit of more goals? I don't think so.

He might not be but there's 14,000 in the stands all vocally trying to force him towards it.

Very true. I hate to say it but I watched L**ds last night and they got 4 or 5 into the box when attacking wide

But he is also seeing what we are, lack of goals is costing us dearly. Matches we should be dominating given our players we are struggling to score. It is like having a jag in the garage that we only bring out for a tour round the drive and then back into garage. Strikers thrive on service, very few make their own opportunities. If we want to make sure we get promotion from the automatics then he has to become flexible and certainly at home. He can continue a more cautious approach away.

This is league 2, i'm not sure the players are good enough to be adaptable, we either throw caution to the wind or we stay hard to beat. We can't just go from having the best defensive record for over thirty years to scoring with impunity. Peterborough currently have this problem, an attack that can tear teams apart but at this moment are leaking goals like a sieve leaks water. As much as i find it hard to watch, this clubs current position is built on its defence and Bowyer knows he can rely on it. Parky did exactly the same. It goes against how i like to watch my football but its effective at this moment. Christ i'm going full thoroughly nice chap.

At one point Ayling nearly put it on a plate for Douglas, both full backs in the box at the same time. Bowyer doesn't even allow both full backs to be in the opposite half together never mind the box.

Vaughan has scored some good goals from attacking crosses. Wood should be pushed right up at every opportunity as he's a good crosser. Connolly and ismail/Pritchard on the wings to get to the byline. We should be raining crosses into the box at every opportunity. Seems Bowyer likes his crosses from about 45 yards from goal where it's too flighty and easy to defend against. Having one man in the box as well means the cross has to be pinpoint every time but who at this level has that ability? Proper winds me up. This team has creative players and could be a decent side but the shackles on them are so frustrating to watch.

They have the squads work on fitness, relentlessly. Working in Leeds and spending July hearing every Leeds fan in work bang on about "Bielsa had them running X amount every day before even going near a ball" got to be annoying but you can see in the they are just drilled. When he came in, the Championship game average work rate is between 100 and 120 metres per minute, so he had the players running 150-160 metres per minute in training so they can get used to really intense periods. And they have the training facilities and proper sports scientists to help that player.

Fully agree Bowyer needs to be more expansive and want to see a better style of play, just don't think A) this squad would be capable of it technical ability wise. And B) we seem to be the walking wounded playing our style of football, with muscle injuries being a recurring theme. There's certainly a more progressive medium he can hit with this team, but they couldn't handle a Leeds style. Although their 3-3-3-1 system is probably the only one GB didnt try this season.

Think we have a few players that could do that kind of play, but how many slight knocks and odd weeks out have Mellor and Henley needed? Leeds CB's play on the half way line due to the press but have the pace to deal with a ball over the top, something a BRE type doesn't. Cooke is our only CM who has stayed relatively fit this season, as well as Ismail probably being fully fit for about 7 weeks this season so far and Pritchard with a few knocks. All Leeds wingers can play either side and are two footed, ours are very different.

Thats a fair reflection. The way players are conditioned in league 2 is completely different to the championship, not that ours is wrong though, its horses for courses. We could go full press like Leeds do but i guarantee you that defensive goal tally we have would look somewhat different. Nothing wrong with aiming for a style akin to what Leeds do but it takes a couple of seasons to get the players and then have them buy in to what you're trying to achieve.
