What do we actually need from this window though? We're not going up, or down. Huge question marks over the manager and long term direction of the club. Do we actually want the club to spend money that takes us further in the wrong direction?

Priority now isn't about signings, it's about driving change at the top of the club.

 

He had a reputation for being injury prone coming up through Middlesbrough it seems. Had a really bad injury hit spell at Wycombe and seemingly was managed well at Harrogate his first season but last season started getting the muscle injuries again.

Shame as you can tell he's a real talent, just can't stay fit. Same with Walker, both should be playing higher than L2 if only they could stay fit. Just our luck that both are out at the same time.

 

TBH, I can’t see much wrong with the current back three. Our goals against record has improved significantly in recent weeks.
Platt is excellent in the air and has been steady as a rock since being moved into the centre of a three. Kelly has done nothing much wrong and has got us out of a few holes at times. Tomkinson is young and inexperienced but, penalty against Crewe aside, has looked decent. He has pace, looks the best ball player of the three and I’m sure he’ll get better with more games under his belt.
To me, if we’re going to play three CBs then we need two as cover. I find it hard to believe that Stubbs has suddenly become a bad player. He’s been in poor form, certainly, but we’ve seen he is capable of superb displays and I’d keep him ahead of Taylor any day.

Surly now he can see that he simply aint a football man and rather wasting mass wages on overhill shit just simply put that money to getting a director of football............ sure there a fair few out there who would jump at the chance a fair few have close connections to the club ............. but this bumbling along making mistakes is simply gonna continue to damage us

 

Swindon are selling their right full back Romeo Hutton to Stockport for a rumoured £200k..... yes, a full back for the same rumoured fee for the leagues second top scorer.

Wouldn't be bothered about keeping Smith and Richards. So 6 for me.

 

I long for the day we sign that one dominant midfielder that makes everything tick. The last one being Gary Jones. I hope Smallwood is out of contract in the summer and his likely massive wages allows us to do just that. Someone who runs the midfield and sets the tempo. Something I naively thought Smallwood would bring. Any side with aspirations of promotion has one, yet for numerous windows we failed to address this key position.

 

Unless someone comes in with a silly offer, Jake will return to Valley Parade.

 

Stubbs has been poor this season after being one of our better players last year. I would still have him in any time over Taylor

 

We can't afford to have another replacement for those two as both will be on good wages. Besides, Pointon is ideal to play in the 10 role, it will be his natural position in years to come.

 

Or they are from Essex and wanted to go there (but don't let that get in the way of a good January moan )

 

So Crewe getting £500k for a defender and some think £300k is a good price for the 2nd top scorer in the league.

Sparks will get a lot of abuse if he sells Young for less than £500k, no doubt it will be revealed as an undisclosed fee though which I think clubs should not be allowed to do. Fans of both the selling and buying clubs should have the right to know in my opinion

 

If he does go, how a bout a cheeky punt to get Vigaroux on loan from Burnley ? Was the best keeper in l2 by a mile at Orient.

True, but don't think I can stomach any more bullshit from Sparks. The Twitter neanderthals abusing him are well out of order but it's hard to argue that Sparks leadership on the football front has been nothing short of diabolical (not referring to his commercial successes here).
The cavern between Rupp, Sparks and Alexander appears to be fathomless and explains a lot why are communication is so bad and often unbelievable

 

What??? Of course it's down to him. He isn’t a cheif scout, he is the Head of recruitment, his job is to find the right ones for what we want. He is the one laying out the recommendations for every whole in the squad. He said himself in Sept 2022 he is the one who sends every signings recommendation to at the time Hughes and Ryan to approve.

Wouldn't be a bad move all joking aside. When we played MK Dons earlier this season Williamson had one game under his belt, a 1-0 loss to Accrington. Since then they've amassed 26 points in 11 games since they beat us 4-1 at their place. In that time we've amassed 15 points from 13 games. When they sacked Alexander they had a plan in place as to where they wanted to go football wise, they had Williamson in charge in a couple of days. Now relate that to our utterly shambolic attempt to recruit a manager, it took us weeks ending up with a manager who didn't even realise the job was still on offer until he asked his agent.
Now we get an idea why we just bumble along from season to season.

 

I imagine we are. I remember Rhodes saying no young player leaves this club without add on’s. The whole saga annoys me. We have a striker who can score goals on our books for 2 1/2 years and we can’t keep him. We as a club are pathetic, as anyone tried to speak to him? tried to counsel him to stay with us. More cash benefits etc., a promise to allow him to leave in the summer etc etc.,
