I got Afoka's name wrong.

Didn't even realize East had still been a City player if I'm honest.

I see he transferred out in December.

 

Harvey Rowe has also gone out on loan.

The injuries to Walker and Pattison have possibly stopped 1 or 2 going out. We might have tried to get some more out but could get the right offer. Also still the chance to loan some out to National League club before their window closes late March.

 

No idea if there was ever anything in the rumours that we were looking at Charlie Wyke but he's signed for Rotherham on loan.

I dunno…we could have signed a couple of unknown, never played league football, Premiership youngsters on loan. Oh wait, we did that last window.

 

I think 90% of clubs feel the same tbh. Spending down significantly throughout the league ladder.

From a forward perspective, we have come out better IMO. Would have liked to have seen (realistically) 2-3 come in DF and MF though. We have completely ignored Pattisons long term injury which is criminal.

Give me Young, Kavanagh and Wright over Afoka, Oliver and Tulloch any day of the week and twice on a Sunday.

 

Sky Sports News,in their usual desperate way for a story were trying to drag out a complete lack of transfer action in to a whole day of programming.

Borja on loan from Chelsea to Fulham turned in to the only “big” deal.

Nothing happening across the whole of football.

 

I long for the day we sign that one dominant midfielder that makes everything tick. The last one being Gary Jones. I hope Smallwood is out of contract in the summer and his likely massive wages allows us to do just that. Someone who runs the midfield and sets the tempo. Something I naively thought Smallwood would bring. Any side with aspirations of promotion has one, yet for numerous windows we failed to address this key position.

 

Because , any available monies are being used on survival and debt reduction in the EFL perhaps?

That’s how bad it is , there are many clubs in potential trouble if you look closely at the numbers.

Are not some also waiting for the largess of what the Premier League allot us as our “share” of the new Sky deal?

 

You wernt the only one - we all thought Smallwood on paper was a great signing for his level.

Doyle, Vaughan, McLean, Paul Anderson....all 'marquee' but turned out to be wet blankets. Not the first, wont be the last...

 

We haven’t had the wide people capable. And as a result he’s ineffective, but still remains a threat inside the box, outside of it he isn’t. I just watched a video of the new lad brought in yesterday. Him, Cook and Young up front will be a threat. As a paired combo I’d say not so if it included Cookie.

*East was technically recalled like Young but sold so that's a winter departure.

 

What now ? Chalk off the 10 to 15 points required to stay up and get the cigars out ?

 

Add Wright into the mix and that’s a very pacy forward line. Stick MacDonald in the centre and he’ll be just like a quarterback.
