We're a poor side at the moment, but not yet a relegation-poor side.

So far, in the era with 3 points for a win:
    - the bottom fourth-tier club has averaged 37.6 points, with a median of 39 (high 48, low 20);
    - the next-bottom club has averaged 43.2 points, with a median of 44 (high 51, low 34*).

*The Covid-shortened season messes things up a bit, but pro-rated to 46 matches, 24th was on pace for 24 points, and 23rd for 27.

We have 36 points, on pace for 57 (slightly better over the past 10 matches: 60). But all we need to do is lose the next few matches and that cushion will disappear.

FGR and Sutton do look doomed, though, but then again so did Newport a few seasons back.

We aren't signing anyone else this window from how GA spoke on Saturday.

I saw a notification appear today. For a brief fleeting moment, I thought we'd signed someone. Turns out it was just more promotional shit about the game tomorrow

Its the hope that kills you

What do we actually need from this window though? We're not going up, or down. Huge question marks over the manager and long term direction of the club. Do we actually want the club to spend money that takes us further in the wrong direction?

Priority now isn't about signings, it's about driving change at the top of the club.

You'd still think we would have identified players that would improve us long term, even if they couldn't rescue the season.

Instead we've got an aging journeyman goalkeeper and a player on loan who is already injured.

We just don't seem like we're piecing together a squad for the future.

S/T's will have to be sold on the back of a money back guarantee re promotion, didn't Leeds do something similar a few years ago ... ?

Agree, but landing players for the long term, requires a long term plan. I don't trust anyone at the club to set it, so its hard to be enthused about a transfer window.

System changes are what's needed, and I'd rather us not throw good money after bad until we've achieved that.

Yeah Sparks having zero idea what style the next manager might play hobbles us quite dramatically...

Agree. Any money left from this season needs to be banked. However, we need a very short term plan to get us through this season. Then a sketchy plan for next season if we manage to fulfil the short term plan.
In my view we are that fragile it requires week to week planning. Especially if Rupp decides to sell.

Well..... all those December interviews and articles saying things like "the hard work starts now" and talking up 3 or 4 additions to go along with trimming the fat..... it's not really come along has it? We are 1 whole squad member down from which we were on Jan 1st. With a recall, a quick free transfer sorted for the keeper and Wright coming back.

Still far too much of the fat here, and these 3 or 4 key players haven't materialised at all. Few days left to get things in motion, but does anyone else have a weird feeling that the window is already over for us? Maybe Ash Hunter in as another injury prone forward and that's it? With the talk in December by GA, I was hoping we'd have a few more out the door, it still looks like we have 26 pros on the books who will show up to training if all are fit.

Now makes even less sense spending a lot (allegedly) on the Wright loan, even without his injury

Our transfer window has been okay so far we have Young. My next risk on the trader ....what happens if Sutton our FGR have a good window? They may do and get some points. Our lot need to get their asses off the floor and get some points. No more feeling sorry for themselves and its start tonight against another very poor team.

Walker, Pattinson and Wright, are all big misses to any team in this division.
Not won since Doncaster in December, Walker's last action.
We have had so many players out with long term injuries .
I know all clubs suffer but we appear to have a glut.

Agree. I was beginning to think I couldn’t count anymore. GA saying that we were fine now!!!! The bottom line is why would any club want our caste offs? We would need to pay them to take them defeating the object of releasing money so that GA could bring in players.
