I very much doubt to be it's O'Brien Steve, but if it was IMO he'd walk into our midfield.

Bronco, it's not your opinion (or mine) that counts. It's Sparky's and we all know what his opinion is like on strikers, so O'Brien would probably be on the bench ahead of his twin love children of Smallwood & Gillieaid.

You know, the best midfield trio (ever) in League Two :) :) :)

I agree with you in principle.

A few seasons ago, the PL & EFL were inundated with a load of transfer submissions just before the deadline and they couldn't deal with them all. It's not simply a box ticking exercise these days. For example copies of the contract themselves have to be submitted as part of the transfer submissions and it takes some time to review them. One transfer wasn't processed in time despite the club's themselves having met the deadline. The two clubs threatened to challenge the decision. The EFL/PL accepted the clubs' argument and that set a precedent for the future, hence the delays. The club's still have to get their submissions in by the deadline but it now gives a bit of extra time for the EFL/PL to do their reviews.

Although clubs don't help by leaving things to the very last minute, it's the EFL & PL who need to up their game.

So some say we sack the entire system and allow a free spending free for all to even include signings prior to the last match of the season. Smart idea that one! Can you imagine the uproar with some deals massively influencing titles, promotion or relegation . Some can’t see that far seemingly?

If the backlog is at the EFL , irrespective of reason , then the clubs should not be penalised. It’s the EFL ‘s system and if they are unable to manage it properly, I agree they need to allow the clubs leeway to allow for their OWN mismanagement. If it our fault for being late, we get penalised by the deal being vetoed . That’s how it should be.

There is no way it will ever become a free for all although in fairness, it never was. There was always a March deadline to avoid an end of season mad rush! However, even with that in place, it would still transfer even more power to the clubs with the deepest pockets and perhaps more importantly, to players' agents. FIFA and most national bodies want to bring more stability to the league structures and changing the current arrangements as some want to do will result in the process becoming more unstable.

I doubt wether City said, let’s leave it as late as possible like a Christmas Eve shopper. More likely that a deal was impossible at 6PM but then the selling club changed its mind after doing a late deal themselves. That would have left City with a race against time hence the long wait now from EFL.

Apparently,Blackburns move for O'Brien has been blocked because the wrong person submitted the paperwork.According to the report I read, only the club Secretary,or the CEO can submit transfer paperwork, and neither were available on deadline day.If you think our club is run by incompetents, you should read what the Blackburn fans are saying about their club.

No mate Mr Hughes gets my backing, now if he has Oliver up top on Saturday I will start questioning his ability to get us out of this league.
