Very true. I don't really want to go over all of the Huw Jenkins approach again but he had a clear vision for Swansea when they were at the bottom of the khazi which he sustained over 10+ years despite a series of managerial comings-and-goings and a regular turnover in the playing staff. He knew what he wanted and everything was geared to his own vision. If say a new owner has a vision for developing younger talent (and probably selling a few on the way to make the books balance) then that has to be sustained over the years as well; investment has to be directed toward their development and individual managers shouldn't be allowed to tinker with the approach. We can't continue with the stop-go approach as one manager is replaced by another which has got us nowhere inrecent times.

Let's not try to make out like achieving CL football in Scotland is like achieving it in England, especially not when they had 2 places because of the legacy of the Old Firm but only one team to compete against. Finishing 8 points or whatever it was above Inverness Cally is fine, but lets not dress it up. If he'd have achieved it in Greece or Cyprus (both similar standards of leagues) nobody would care less.

Okay. Let me put it this way. At the end of this season I will have watched Stuart McCall led sides start 6 seasons, 4 of them in league two. Of those 6 all the success we have to show for it (if you don't include avoiding relegation as success of course) is one losing play off final.

Yeah, give him a promotion and sign me up for that!!!!

As you say he's contracted until the end of season 2020/21 so unless we have a disastrous run I don't see why he would be sacked, the January transfer window will certainly see more traffic on here if Stuart doesn't sign anyone the rumours will start circulating is it Stuart who doesn't have anyone in mind who's available or is it Rupp who's tightened the purse strings, never a dull moment at BD8 7DY.

It's a promotion that gives him less involvement in the first team...

In that he'll be selecting and signing them?

Can we promote him a bit further away than that please?

What's this failure bar fixation you've got regarding McCall. Yes he has had 3 spells at the club as manager. The first was on the back of his playing career at the club, he had no experience and it showed. The second spell he got us playing an attractive style of football, got us to the play-off final which yes we lost so he tried to take us forward and did get us into a decent position in the league but then we found out about the interference he was having to put up with.
He may turnout to be successful this time or he may not get another contract but given the circumstances of McCall's first two spells as manager here to keep bringing them up is a bit lazy when trying to make your point. Don't get me wrong I'm with you, I want success for this club ASAP but we need some stability.
I'd rather move the contracted players out and build a squad not just to get promoted but one that can compete at the next level.

I don't really know what point you're making. I know all that and I don't care about style of football - I even think the prettiness of McCall's football is overblown, often to distract from the results.

The fact that a post is support of McCall contains more excuses than he's had successful seasons is pretty much exactly my point.

If we're having a DoF the recruitment process MUST be done on the basis of ability. If we can't find someone with a better record of success than 1 play off final in 7 years in the English leagues then let's just fold it up and bring Greg Abbott back.

1 play off final, plenty of experience as a player, experience managing bigger egos in a Champions League team, yes, if we want more than that we'll be looking for someone VERY VERY good indeed! In which case, by all means.

If you had read it properly you would realised my post was neither supporting McCall or slating him, it was just making valid points. Obviously wasting my time trying to discuss issues with you. By the way I've just realised what Aaron Baker rhymes with.

Okay....but even the positive valid points come across as excuses.

Ha ha, I was actually thinking of something else mate but I think you knew that, at least you've got a sense ofFollowingFollowing City we need that.
No point in us falling out. I just think that if he goes at the end of his contract or even earlier or gets another contract we should judge him on his third spell here given the circumstances of his first two spells.
In sport, work or my personal life I've never dealt in excuses, I was just giving the reasons that I felt he should be judged on this spell at the club even if it ends in failure when he goes.

Bloody hell Gary Bowyer would still be here if you had it your way!

McCall has 4 games for me. If we are still in the bottom half at the start of December and out of the FA Cup then he needs to go!

I'm not getting this weak Bradford City failure mindset of he might as well see out his contract rubbish...It's a poor excuse! McCall like any other manager should be judged on results and being bottom half in December wouldn't be acceptable! Would it?

Only telling it like it is, Fordy's liked it so he's taking it as good banter, we were going to be exiled to bloody Scotland if Fordy had his way, possibly never to return, and certainly not allowed into games because of our age and underlying conditions ;).

Nah if us oldies are allowed in after the jab I'd think the younger end will be allowed in too.
