True we are still a bit light in the middle but having said that Watt, Cooke and Sutton are still quite young and with the better quality players we have brought in I fully expect them to grow in stature.

Absolutely. Earlier this season, our starting XI was poor and our bench was atrocious. We've now got 2 good options in pretty much every position.

Hopefully our youngsters don't get lost amongst this intake of new recruits. The likes of Hosannah look good prospects but ultimately bringing through our own youth has to take precedence now, which means if we believe in the likes of FCD with their 3 year contract then we have to continue their regualar game time.

 

Spot on. Staunton and FCD are real prospects. Scales seems highly rated too. If we can achieve success with some of our own at the heart of it, it'll be even sweeter. And importantly, if we can build a good base on younger players, we'll grow saleable assets that can help bring money into the club for further reinvestment

Take AOC, he and Paudie have formed a very strong partnership during this run but against Barrow and Quigley in particular they both struggled for once. AOC had a poor game and knows he can't afford another with big Niall waiting for his chance. Then when he comes in Niall Canavan knows he must perform because AOC or whoever replaces him when he leaves is ready to take their chance. That's proper competition for places.

 

That’s right they have got a club so they get game time and when the summer comes they won’t be among the many footballers cast on the scrap heap

 

That's my remaining concern. Definitely more understanding between the pair but I worry as against Barrow we looked suspect on occasions. However we cannot underestimate how things have tightened up since young Hornby came in.

I think you have to take into account that it was the third game in 7 days, two of which had been long away trips and that is going to take its toll. We have to be realistic and accept we aren't going to be on top of our game every game, but the important thing on Saturday was that even though it wasn't the best of performances, we still dug in and got the 3 points.

 

The bloke is deluded off he thinks any of the players lost money with the moves. Its highly likely its the opposite but at the very least they'll be earning the full amount of their contracts they had with City.
