Bradford City has no footballing identity and it comes as no shock to me that we're struggling on and off the pitch.

Even the cheap season tickets doesn't get a mention anymore by sky or media channels outside Bradford.

We need a new PR team like you say mate and more importantly footballing men from he inside.

If you heard the interview he stayed as long as he could (even having health problems) because of the situation and to try and offer advice why Rahic shouldn't be doing things the way he was, and what notice did Rahic take sweet FA, so eventually he handed his notice in.

 

I get your point @Dubois but until quite recently the vast amount of football clubs were run by the local business man who had a few bob, and they would run it as a business hoping that they didn't have to put their hands into there pockets on a regular basis, hoping the man they gave the managers position to had success on the field.
Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United etc, were always run by local business men, The Mores family originally at Everton and John Moore at Liverpool, Louis Edwards at Man U followed by his son Martin for many years until Sky got on board and offered the Premiership teams money they could only dream about, that's when the money men started taking over our clubs.
Would the club be able to pay someone having all the attributes you mention above, I'd suggest they'd come with a very healthy price ?.

 

You're right that the landscape has changed and that without money you get nowhere. But you can be far more savvy than we've ever been. Although based on cheap season tickets we have a potential fanbase that most clubs at our level would die for but we haven't the leadership in the club to exploit it. Our PR is amatuerish and embarrassing, and it was when James was here too. The administration of the club is shambolic. But, above all, we just don't understand what is needed to succeed, particularly in relation to signing players. Time and again we're fooled by agents and other clubs into signing poor players or paying over the odds for mediocrity. And I'm not just referring to the current fiasco; this has been the case for generations. I set out a few cardinal principles in the thread about when we should begin to question Hopkin, and, to his credit, Bowyer has publicly stated his belief in one of them. But we have an awful long way to go, and our history does not encourage optimism.

 

Good reply but I'd suggest we had two good Chairmen in Stafford and Richmond both sold the club very well during their time here, could the club afford someone with those sort of qualifications you point out, I wouldn't like to even hazard a guess at what they would command money wise.
Certainly since Julian took over as owner then as part owner with Mark I don't remember anyone doing that side until Dave Baldwin came on board as Director of Operations, and even Dave had to learn on the job.

 

Dave Baldwin returning would be an excellent development. He had far more ability than anyone we've had in recent times.

 

On Sasturday, JM confirmed that Edin would take advice from no one including Stuart and Gregg yet some people still blame Gregg for the calamitous signings.

 

I have it on good authority from someone who rents office space at VP that stand up rows between Greg and Rahic in the corridor were a virtual daily occurrence.

i'm not saying Rahic didn't shut down suggestions and that most of these players aren't Rahic signings, but clearly the transfer committees we've had in place have had some form of input.

Abbots role in this seasons shambles can't be excused.

 

There was only 1 member of the transfer committee. When the transfers took place, we had no manager(not official anyway) and Greg was off with a bit of a medical problem.

Drury and Collins were part of the transfer committee when Abbott was off. Abbott also left Rahic with a list of potential targets.

i don't dispute that Rahic was clueless, but the others also involved in recruitment should at the very least be held partly responsible.

I have said before that Abbo was at the heart of all the transfer activity and should be held responsible for some of the shite players that we now see in our first 11.

Edin also for the length of the contracts and pissing off all those who were interviewed for the managers job to the extent he had to hire Collins.
