I'm just saying, I think pretty much 80 % of teams in this division have 'round pegs in square holes', it's not going to ruin our season.

 

Just to add if Young continues to perform anything like his present form at Swindon and they were in contention (with ourselves) for at least a play off place, I'd quote Swindon a price for him to sign for them if they can't afford it I certainly wouldn't let him continue there on loan, could be interesting come the New Year.

 

I think they're crap, Bronco, I don't think they're play off contenders despite having Kemp on terrific form.

Crawley just reverted to exactly what we all expected, it's a shame they started the season with their tails up and beat us...

 

He scored 4 goals in 3 games and showed too much attacking intent. That’s just not the done thing here.

We can only assume that he wasn’t happy with the arrival of Tyreik Wright which probably unfairly relegated him to the bench only days after impressing in the away win at Tranmere.

 

Jake Young had a poor game away at Tranmere and was subbed with Wright coming on. Wright was the one that impressed that evening.
Young scored a belter coming on in the away trip to Barrow in the first game of last season. After that I thought his performances weren't that great for us.
It's a shame things haven't worked out. I would like to have seen him given a chance pre season at least

I want to see what he does over a longer period

 

Young won't play for us again. Swindon play a style of football where they play on the front foot an have good link up play between their attakckers, it allows players like Young to thrive. Our style on the other hand is shit, an bringing Jake Young back wont magically make us any better. Best thing we can do, is hope he carries on scoring bucket loads for Swindon, recall him in January an sell him to a League One club for north of 500k

So it's entirely speculation then?

 

Without formal confirmation from the club, or hard evidence presented by anyone ITK, then it can only be speculation at this stage Faithful. That I confess.

However, there are noises (speculation) claiming he has done something. I would not normally place too much confidence in such whispers, but when a club doesn't take a player on their warm weather training camp, he doesn't feature in first team pre-season friendlies then there clearly isn't something right. All these actions are akin to actions a club takes when disciplining a player.

Although not impossible, I hold little faith in it simply being a decision Hughes has made on the basis he doesn't rate him. If that were the case then Hendrie, Osudina et al would have been treated in the same way.

What's your view on the matter and why?

 

I really don't know how people can comment about Young's abilities when he was never played in his correct position as central striker. He isn't a wide player and tracking back isn't his game. It would have been interesting this season to see him play alongside Cook but yet again, despite signing Smith, another central striker asked to play wide, we play Cook on his own. One great benefit of five at the back is that it enables you to have two up front but Hughes isn't doing that. He's playing three up front with two wide. The wingbacks are supposed to provide the width. It's just plain crazy. And today we sign a winger. To play where? And we have no backup for Cook who's been a virtual passenger so far but has to keep playing. If anyone can make any sense of all this you're a better man, or woman, than me.

 

Your correct we may never know what happend, if he made the comments that were doing the rounds at the time that Hughes didn't know what he was doing or he was clueless then it would be difficult for both Hughes and the club not to discipline Young some way or another but I do believe he should have had a clean sheet come the new season.
Yes I get all the counter arguments I've never been a football manager but have had over 30 guys working under me and you alway have one who wants to push your button, now if young was asked if he wanted to go on the pre-season training/bonding trip to Spain and refused then it obviously leaves the club with little option but to loan him out, if he wasn't asked to go because of some long running feud with the manager rather than make an example of him pay the kid off.
People within football will be aware of why Young has been allowed to leave on loan and unfortunately for Hughes and the club he's showing that given the right system he can score goals, which is a little embarrassing when Andy Cook is struggling, so its a plus that we may be able to get a fee for him he stays with Swindon or another team come in for the kid, it will be interesting what Hughes does if there are no takers does Jake come back training with the kids (I wasn't sure if that was the case last season) not even making the Saturdays squad of 18.

 

As yet I've not heard or read anything with regards Cook having an injury he was clearly struggling towards the end of the game but Hughes never commented in his post match interview having said that he was not asked, those who attended knew it didn't look good, maybe its that extra 3 stone he's carrying .

 

Agree Bronco. I too was expecting a clean slate for Young come the start of the season and perhaps this was the case, but for whatever reason it didn't appear to happen. We are not likely to know anytime soon, if ever at all.

All Young can and should be doing now is train hard and do his talking on the pitch. So far, that's exactly what he is doing and fair play to him.

 

He's either injured, unfit, unsuited to the system, completely brassed off or lacking motivation having been given a lucrative contract. Whatever it is he's contributed next to nothing so far.

 

To be honest I can’t remember his individual performance that night but I know we were drawing 1-1 after 60mins when he was subbed.
I do remember his awful performances against Leicester kids and Burton though

 

I wish Young nothing but the best but some fans have selective memory to suit a particular narrative.

 

I think its fairly clear that there's been some sort of incident, and the club will always support the manager as the figure of authority. But I have no idea as to what's gone on, or whether there's an attitude or professionalism issue with Young.

 

Personally, I think he's been struggling with his left knee since the Crawley game when he landed awkwardly. If you watch some of the highlights of games afterwards he's been holding it quite a bit. On Saturday there was a coming together with one of their defenders as he tried to run onto a loose ball. Both players ended up on the ground. Cook got up but was clearly holding his side and wincing and appeared in a bit of pain. He could barely move and run but we'd had all our subs.....
