Young scored the same amount of goals in 24 minutes yesterday that our joint 3rd top scorers scored all of last season and overall in the 4 games he's played for Swindon, he has scored more than our second top scorer did all of last season. Regardless of what you think of Young, those are shocking statistics.

 

Even if he doesn't, he's still scored more than our 2nd top scorer did all of last season.

Different times mate, imagine telling (in my case) the moulder I was basically labouring with to learn my trade to piss off when he told me to go for a bucket of steam, of a glass hammer, or the best tell the guy at the stores I was sent for a long wait.

 

Sell him to prove a point that Hughes Is not capable of getting the best from the kid, after giving him a 3 year contract, not for the first time.

 

If the player keeps up this purple patch, there will be interest from elsewhere come January although I suspect the player himself would want to stay at an environment which exhibits his attributes the best. One thing's for sure I cannot see him playing at Bradford again bar the odd game in the transfer window like Doyle did. He isn't gonna play under a manager who doesn't want him here and let's be fair, the pragmatic way Hughes sets up his team he wouldn't be scoring like he is now

 

We'll never know what really happened and I agree a bad influance in the squad ain't good, but Hughes has been in the game long enough to know if the comment that has been quoted is true maybe in the heat of the moment it could have been dealt with better.
No.mention of Cook in Hughes post match interview he was obviously struggling late on in the game.

 

We were told at the ground yesterday that Young behaved in this fashion at Barrow as well! This lad hasn’t grown up yet. He looks a lovely player just having watched him scoring for Swindon. I really liked him when he played for us, he was always looking to get on the front foot. He is not versatile ie tracking back and defending which makes him a luxury item. I can see why Hughes has dispensed with his services. However, when you have a player like him you nuture his talent as best you can. Then you have to consider the other players who have to do his defending for him and the impact on the team. There has to be an agreement which no doubt will be given provided he can score in most of the games. If that stops it then becomes problematic and he would need to be benched.
Maybe Flynn can help him discover and expand his game. Worth a listen to his after match interview

 

I watched the extended highlights, Kemp is the key for Swindon. Without him Young isn't half the player. Crawley were their own worst enemy, should have been Infront at half time and gifted goals that a Sunday league side could have scored.

 

I liked his comment with regards continuing to attack even when the game was beyond Crawley, scoring the sixth in 99 the minute.

 

If Cook was at Swindon he'd have 6 goals by now. Not to detract from Youngs impressive start but the defending from the opposition in Swindon's last 2 games has been laughable.

 

Centre forwards are to score goals Defenders are to stop goals
Yes a certain amount of tracking back should happen but primarily a forward should be judged/selected on his scoring abilities you wouldn't drop a good full back because he can't hit a barn door from 10 yards
From what you say Young was the same at Barrow all players to a degree have a "chip" on their shoulders it's a highly competitive way of life and a very short career wanting the best for themselves can manifest itself in all sorts of ways
MH who obviously saw the potential awarded him a 3 year deal ought to have seen that and handled the situation before it got to the stage it did Most managers know how to get the best out of players whether it's the arm round the shoulder (Stuart) or a right doing (Paul Jewell)
