It adds to turnover, which less expenses adds to the spendable money. £1.1million is better than £500,000. And by my calculations (from your previous point ) Park Avenue finished above us in the league (most of which were in the same division) 17 times out of the 49 season we both co-existed.

If you are not optimistic at the beginning of a season then there is little point in being a fan. It’s true of course realism often sets in pretty Quickly but that’s sport

Two clubs very lucky not to have been wound up due to severe financial irregularities. Good example.

I'm just cancelling my season ticket and getting in touch with the bowls association, based on your wisdom!

I don't think that's actually true. I think most of us were cautiously hopeful of promotion, or at least a playoff place, given his track record. But excited? Nah. Most of us knew of his reputation for boring, 'pragmatic' football and for turning on the players and fans when things don't go his way.
What I've seen of Sparky's style of play, his demeanour, his man management and the clarity of recruitment so far makes me far more excited than at any stage under Deadly Derek. It may all prove to be a false dawn, of course, but so far so good.

Your replies suggest you are rattled for some reason. Not sure why?.

In hindsight all my optimism last year was based on Adams having got someone promoted therefore this soiled all my decisions on signings. They must be good as its Adams. In reality some were bad

Ha ha you must be tough to please!

having steered Morecambe up and after what he did for Plymouth I was happy to have him here. But happy was all it was.

I still pinch myself sometimes that Hughes is here, though. It’s a remarkable coup.

Good point that - he went up the leagues and came back down again.

You are reading too much into them ! Not rattled at all, just very keen to see Vernham make the most of his limited career by staying here and learning from Sparky than going to a backwater club. Like you say, if he goes then it's up to him and good luck to him.

I'm really optimistic for this season, a feeling I haven't had since probably 1984/85, but if Vernham doesn't share that I can't do anything about it. I just think if he goes it not for footballing reasons.

To be fair Stockport County, Wrexham and even Halifax would bring quite a few supporters with them, so it would be a good atmosphere down at Valley Parade.

I should point out I picked those teams out as the best potential games next season. Grimsby if they go up always bring a decent following, I think they can turn over what is quite an average Wrexham side despite all the money they've spent. Parky will be toast if he doesn't get them up.

There is an air of optimism but we get that to some extent every season. Big decision to make but I think the lure of a decent wage and league 1 football could sway Vernams decision.

I watched the Wembley final highlights and Wrexham seem to be the one trick pony I dislike .
Repetitive long throws from the centre back called Tozer. I think our paths may have crossed with this player before via Cheltenham and Northampton Town? Its monotonous boring and predictable, yet probably only successful once in a hundred times attempted. I hated it when the “Adams family” used it , utilising Thelkeld.
