I would take that amount with a pinch of salt, after tax he would be taking home approx £450. He could earn more cleaning cars for Fordy

It just shows how rare it is for most clubs to actually win a league, I’d love to see us win one even if just League 2. It would make this hell hole worth while.

in the 125 or so years that competitive football have been played there could only be 500 "champions" so with 92 clubs and another 30 or so that have been in the league at some point, an average of 3 is middling.
Also factor in that of of all the available championships around 20% have been won by 10% of the clubs.
So three won is bang average and more than most. Come May 2023 it will be four !!!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Jayteebee, Stoneski and Interested Bystander like this. -

To be honest, some of Hughes's decisions are baffling me to the point where I have little confidence in him taking us up this season.

They obviously really rate him with that length of contract.
I am puzzled that we have paid a fee, I thought he had been released?
Looking forward to seeing him in action for us.

From the FGR forum
I get the feeling something was amiss behind the scenes with JY and the management team last season. He was overlooked a lot in favour of Josh March and was left out of the squad a few times towards the end of the season. For me he has a much higher ceiling for potential that March and I’m a bit disappointed we let him go. At 20 he’s still got plenty of time to improve.

So much potential. Be interesting if he realises that or not. Hard to ascertain his best position. Possibly a no10 as he can dribble and drive well with a good shot from distance. He was the one player I was excited about when the substitutions board went up only to be disappointed when he wasn’t used.
I know Orient was looking at him, so must have a few suitors. Gone to a massive Club. Be interesting to view his progression next season.Bronco and borderlescott like this. -

In mark Hughes , we appear to have a manager who brings the whole package.
He knows how to handle the players to get the best out of them. he is well respected in the football world.
I am certain he will manage the players to get that bit extra out of them and will also improve them as players , physically and mentally.
We saw that towards the of last season , with a squad of players that had been basically dire for the most part. -

Well I can’t believe USG mentioned a grown man getting spanked every week and nobody raised an eyebrow. A true fnar moment.

We started last season brilliantly after a strong pre-season but as soon as we met a few problems, as was always going to happen, he chucked people under the bus and passed the buck. Our xG, outstanding in those opening months, nosedived, and inevitably results did too.
A lack of quality didn’t stop us going up last year, nor a lack of resources (i.e. Sparks’ doing). It was a toxic, arrogant manager who the players didn’t play for. He was the wrong fit for our club. Fans never warmed to him and he was out no sooner had he come in.
Agree, it is all hypothetical, but the bookies odds will give you some idea about what is expected at each club. Lincoln were 17th in L1 and a top ten finish would have to represent a good season, measured against realism, for them next year.
We chronically underachieved last season. There was no reason we shouldn’t have made the top seven had we not messed it up ourselves and top seven has to be the bare minimum we are going for this season. We need to puff our chests out and take Hughsey’s lead. We are a huge club, the mood around the whole place has been lifted and there looks to be a clear plan behind our recruitment. Good times are around the corner. -
