We want peace and if we don't get it we're going to smash everything up and kick people's heads in, or summat.

Except there's multiple videos online showing Tel Aviv fans going through a train looking for a fight. Also, ripping and burning Palastinian flags from buildings, attacking a taxi and singing derogatory chants about Arabs. Depends which narrative you want to believe.

I believe the narrative of the mayor of Amsterdam and the police who blame the violence squarely on the scummy local arabs and Muslims of Amsterdam.

In the words of the major, they failed the Jewish people in world war 2 in their city and they failed the Jewish people again last night in their City.

Unfortunately even if there were some stupid Maccabi fans who did that I'm sure there would have been completely innocent Maccabi who got caught up in last night incident, why weren't the Amsterdam police more pro active knowing Amsterdam has a large Muslim population and the potential outcome, the Mayor was correct the Maccabi fans were let down.

Is there a city not in Poland or Hungary that hasn't got one these days? Seems like its open season on anything Jewish now.

And some seem happy for that to be the case.

Depends on your narrative i guess. From the muslim perspective any perceived victory, however small, will be cheered from the rafters due to their backing of the Palestinians, whereas the perspective will be that Maccabi Haifa fans were hunted down. Sadly this sort of incident has become more prevalent since the October 7th atrocities and the subsequent Israel retaliation.
Hopefully the Don will sort it.

The Mayor loses all credibility when she brings up the Holocaust, the single worst atrocity in the last 100 years, in relation to what happened last night.

The Dutch police totally messed up on this one. They should have had more presence on the ground at the start and put a stop to it when the first things started and then maybe it wouldn’t have snowballed.

innocent people on both sides will have been caught up in it, and can be fairly certain that the Israeli fans that were ripping flags down and smashing things up and doing the original chants will not be the ones that got attacked later

I'm not sure there has been an election in Gaza since 2006, meaning that many of the people living there have had no say in who rules them nor are they in the position to question who rules them. There are many people in Gaza who are innocent people who no doubt will face persecution if they speak out.

Hamas are scum and would be better served if they were totally removed for the benefit of everyone, just like the Taliban, however countries in and around the middle east will ensure they remain. Just like when Pakistan kept the Taliban safe and they just crossed back into Afghanistan the second the Nato troops left.

I personally wouldn't want the Labour government to take that risk, we don't know where the vast majority now are coming from as they jettison any documentation before they land on British soil.
Many believe the destruction of the Gaza will have the opposite effect to your comment, with the destruction and deaths many have witnessed.

People ask why counties around gaza don't take refugees. My guess would be because they actively support Hamas. I can't believe Pakistan were allowed to just keep the Taliban safe and ticking over without concequences once they just crossed the border back to Afghanistan. Everyone in the middle east appears to have a common enemy with Israel which is why in any conflict there Iraq etc went and attacked them to gain the sympathy of the neighbouring nations.
