Take religion and politics out of and most get on through common interests like football, the biggest thing on this planet that pulls people together from different communities and cultures. But let's not pretend cultures mix, more that they are tolerated and that's a completely different thing. My brother has lived in central London for about 15/20 years now, it ain't the all encompassing wonderful melting pot everyone would have you believe. Depends what your narrative is I guess...

Well, we’ll see if my posts about Trump are hysterical overreaction a) if he loses, refuses to accept defeat and turns his gun totin’ supporters loose or b) if he wins and starts decimating US democratic institutions as he’s promised to do. Time will tell.

    Good post.
I do recognise some of what you’re saying, particularly about my social circle, which is pretty big, but largely left leaning.
I do think that some on here overestimate the extent that they represent the majority view or that of the ‘ordinary person’. The bubble on here is very socially conservative and therefore tends to represent one side of our increasingly divided society. But that divide is much more evenly split across the country than many on here want to recognise, because they see it from a Bradford perspective, which isn’t typical of the whole country.
Both my kids live in very mixed areas of London - Walthamstow and Forest Gate - and are definitely not surrounded by left leaning professionals. But neither recognise the narrative about London that is frequently aired on here.

What, you mean like the Brexit vote, when millions of remoaners couldn't accept the vote and have constantly tried their very best to thwart, disrupt and derail leaving the EU?

No they haven’t. That’s just Brexiteer paranoia. We have exactly the Brexit you voted for. We are out of the single market and the customs union, to disastrous impact on our economy. We have stopped free movement from Europe, but replaced it with record legal migration from South Asia and Africa to make up the resultant labour shortages. And we’ve severely damaged the cooperation of our European neighbours, thus making it harder to deal with unscheduled immigrants. How is any of this the fault of Remainers? It’s all exactly what you were warned about and voted for anyway.

And I don’t recall hundreds of Remainers storming parliament with guns to try and overturn the result, unlike Trump’s mob.

Small conservative bubble apparently. I'll argue it's how the majority of this country feel whatever background they are from.

Where did I say Trumps supporters didn't storm parliament, or what Brexit has resulted in?? Correct, I didn't....

My post only pointed out remainers tried all the tricks in the book - and more - to derail the MAJORITY democratic vote simply because they didn't win and get their own way. Whether it was right, wrong or otherwise is neither here nor there. They are sore losers and couldn't accept it. You have decided to go off on a rant about the aftermath mate, not me

Can you agree that remoaners could not accept the democracy, and that they tried everything to thwart it?

You won't accept it Steve but you know quite well once the remainers Labour, Lib/Dems, Green, AN Other parties and some Tory back benchers made May remove the only card (which I don't believe she dare play her being a remainder) to leave with no deal we left ourselves wide open to any deal on offer, I honestly believe many brexiteers were prepared to take that rather than being dictated to by a bunch of none elected bureaucrats, please stop making out brexiteers got what they wanted after leaving the EU as we were shafted by those MPs who weren't prepared to accept a democratic vote.

There's an easy answer to stopping the illegals but only one party dare suggest using it, I hope I'm still around in just over four and a half years time because if Labour have not stopped the traffickers hence the boat people illegally entering the UK there will only be one answer, the council and metropolitan elections will be a good guide to see if Reform are just a protest vote at the last election, I think some on here are in for a rude awakening.

No I can’t. Who are you talking about? The vast majority of the 49% who voted remain did absolutely nothing to attempt to thwart the result. None of them liked it but they had to accept it.
I slightly misunderstood your post. I thought you were suggesting that things have been done since Brexit happened to undermine it. I didn’t realise you were talking about the period between the referendum and the actual Brexit. In that time there was zero clarity about what Brexit actually meant, because it wasn’t defined at the referendum. So, of course, Remainer politicians did what they could to engineer a less drastic Brexit than the one we ended up with. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with them doing that, because no one knew the terms of the Brexit they were voting for so the details were still up for grabs.

LOL. You got full exit from the customs union and single market and the end of free movement. What the hell else did you think you could get?

Yes we do. We’d have ended up on WTO terms which would have made Brexit an even bigger economic disaster than it already is. The idea that the EU would have caved in to a threat of no deal and given us some great special deal is for the birds. Which is why parliament sensibly blocked it, thank goodness.

There would have been more meaningful talks before the no deal was the final option, your giving your opinion Steve no more, whilst we have been out of the EU it has hardly powered ahead and up to recently we were out performing many EU countries, they have major problems within that group, immigration being a major problem as we've seen with Poland, Hungary and now Italy they will not tow the EU line as they believe their individual sovereignty is above the EU.

Shocking scenes in Amsterdam last night as fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv were viciously attacked by Pro Palestine scum after the game against Ajax.

Shocking images of brutal beatings on the streets as the few police on scene stay in their police vans and offer no help.

Reports that some of the Israeli fans were thrown in the canal and run over by vehicles.

Israeli government now preparing to send a plane over to 'rescue' them from Amsterdam.

Absolutely disgraceful that the police allowed all this to unfurl.
