If the coming season does end prematurely, I trust there is an agreed system in place to determine promotion/play-offs/relegation, which all clubs, in whatever league/division are forced to abide by, without threats of court action etc etc

I completely do. It isn't downplaying it, is adopting realism. 600,000 people a year die. If we are going to avoid death and disease by hiding away, wearing masks, not hugging, not working, and completely trashing the world economy for many generations to come then life is hardly worth living.

Never in the history of mankind of we hidden away in this way from a virus. Never have we instigated such fear and anxiety into the whole population, and announced death figures on a nightly basis (well, they did until the death figures became so low it was no longer frightening people).

I live in a place where there hasn't been a single case of CV, let alone a death, for over two months, and yet I walk out of my door and people, young and old are walking around in masks like the bubonic plague is in town. And young people are wearing masks like they're a badge of honour and a fashion statement.

And yet only yesterday I spoke to someone who works in one of the biggest local hospitals (not in Bradford) and he told me how many positive CV cases they currently had ... ONE!!!

The impact and disruption has been MASSIVE, but it isn't the impact and disruption caused by CV, it is the impact and disruption caused by the fear-mongering and anxiety-building propaganda.

Ever since man first walked the earth there have been viruses, and every single time we have built up immunity and ultimately flourished. We have not hidden away like petrified beings. Yes, people have died. Alas, that is how viruses work. But then we, as a species, build up resistance. We gain immunity. As a species we will not build immunity by locking ourselves away - indeed that is exactly what not to do.

Yes, isolate the vulnerable and take sensible steps to protect them, but for the sake of the children (if not for ourselves) we need to get back to normality as soon as possible and stop this rampant culture of fear for a virus that already seems to have run out of steam.

And at the same time we all need to do what we can to get healthy and build our immunity, and that includes exercise, supplementation, good diet, and LESS anxiety.

Phew, glad to get that off my chest :)

Theres a lot in there and obviously cant answer it all but where do you live that hasn't had a single case?

Don't get me wrong. It has to be kept in context but that logical context, not just manipulating figures to decrease the death rate or overplay the amount of immunity.

If as a country we decide, with our eyes open, that we would be happier to have nightclubs, travel and sports crowds back but the trade off is, say, 1m deaths a year rather than 600k then that's one thing. But making out like its is being overblown and is of minimal impact to make it look like there is no trade off to increased freedom is quite another. That's what I mean by downplaying it.

Maybe he means on his road as the only way to know a specific area hasn’t had any cases at all would be if you knew everyone in that area

I only deal in facts mate.

However, I think even if a national lock down that sport. Well the PL will.

I don't know if anybody follows the NFL or watches Hard Knocks... But it gives a really good insight into how they've been dealing with Covid-19 in preseason.

The level they go to is something probably only the Premier League could afford in this country. Daily testing, special technology to monitor how close each player is to another player and for how long, broken down by when they are actively running routes and drills and when they aren't. Massive semi-permanent structures built for team meetings, lunches, gym time etc. Individual booths in the dressing rooms. I believe they've even developed helmets that periodically take temperature checks.

And even then they've had over 60 positive tests.

There's no way clubs at our level can afford measures like this... And with such a small squad this season... And presumably smaller squads overall due to the salary cap, I'd be very surprised if we finish the season, or finish on time.

Here you go. Earlier pandemic and responses to them.

Black Death 1346-1353. ‘The most popular theory of how the plague ended is through the implementation of quarantines. The uninfected would typically remain in their homes and only leave when it was necessary, while those who could afford to do so would leave the more densely populated areas and live in greater isolation.

Improvements in personal hygiene are also thought to have begun to take place during the pandemic, alongside the practice of cremations rather than burials due to the sheer number of bodies’.

    upload_2020-8-30_12-50-20.jpeg

London 1665, ‘The Lord Mayor and aldermen (town councillors) remained to enforce the King’s orders to try and stop the spread of the disease. The poorest people remained in London with the rats and those people who had the plague. Watchmen locked and kept guard over infected houses. Parish officials provided food. Searchers looked for dead bodies and took them at night to plague pits for burial.

All trade with London and other plague towns was stopped. The Council of Scotland declared that the border with England would be closed. There were to be no fairs or trade with other countries. This meant many people lost their jobs – from servants to shoemakers to those who worked on the River Thames’.

    upload_2020-8-30_12-57-0.jpeg

Eyam 1665, ‘They introduced a number of precautions to slow the spread of the illness from May 1666. The measures included the arrangement that families were to bury their own dead and relocation of church services to the natural amphitheatre of Cucklett Delph,[17] allowing villagers to separate themselves and so reducing the risk of infection. Perhaps the best-known decision was to quarantine the entire village to prevent further spread of the disease’.

During the 1918 flu pandemic, factors that contributed to the rare successes of protective sequestration were the following:

    • The community leaders recognized the danger posed by the pandemic before it reached the community and implemented protective measures early (before neighboring communities did)
    • Taking advantage of the community's remoteness or natural barriers that were generally, but not always, present, the community leadership established and enforced a cordon around the outer perimeter of the community
    • Anyone seeking entry into the community was placed in quarantine for the incubation period of the infection and released into the community only after they were shown to be free of infection. Furthermore, the leadership established a system whereby supplies were delivered and received in a way that eliminated human-to-human contact with those delivering the supplies
    • Families were kept together so that life within the protected zone was as normal as possible. Schools remained in session and places of worship remained open, people continued to work, and entertainment remained available
    • Protective sequestration measures remained in effect for the duration of the risk, which was short enough that residents would not become restless.

Two more rugby league games scrapped this week due to covid

All the games are being played at the same ground over two days to keep costs and testing to a minimum

Fans calling for season to be scrapped

    Its a farce

Why are they cancelling games due to a couple of positive tests? Are they making the whole squad isolate for 14 days?
