I predicted 6th pre season so it’s about what I expected so can’t complain if we end in the playoffs, I don’t subscribe to this underachievement nonsense. Just because we have a manager and players who have previously played higher up, it’s irrelevant they’re all league 2 for a reason just as the likes of Josh Wright and Hope Akpan had come with championship experience history counts for nothing.

We’ve thrown points away but as has every team, if we end in the playoffs it’s because it’s where we deserve to be.

Biggest issue with the playoffs is the gamble, it’s either the best way to get promoted or the worst end to the season possible.

Except the playoffs came in before they built the new Wembley.

The old system of 3 up, 3 down was terrible and many teams seasons had finished by February. At least this way it keeps football exciting and engaging instead of watching a few youngsters given a game because the senior pros have their feet up for a few month

You and Fordy should get a room together, the play offs are usually the better team on the day but not always as Bradford City have proved in the past with home defeats against Blackpool & Burton then turning both results around I'll always back my team.

The time scales aren’t even close either..
The play offs started in 1987 with a Wembley final starting 3 years later in 1990.
The old Wembley wasn’t even knocked down until 2002.

Every division at the moment has teams that are 10/15 points off the top 3( but only 4/5 off the top 7) and without the play offs they would already be on the beach and would be just going through the motions.
With the play offs, all those players (and their fans) still go in to every game until May with something still to play for.

The play offs are not going anywhere for the foreseeable future and rightly so.

I'm not sure it changing the 4th promotion spot to automatic would bring in many more. Even going to 4 up 3 down by 1st February this year this was the table you'd have a lot of clubs needing an amazing end of the season to stand any chance of top 4 even with 18-20 games left but with 7th place meaning something there's probably only 3 teams who had nothing to play for.

Because I have a different opinion to you? You constantly post the most drivel here and probably the closest to Fordy in your ability to use words without any message.

You'll always have a different opinion to me I'm a Bradford City SUPORTER, you seem unable to have any positivity about the club.

As previously mentioned, I'm dreading the playoffs - the final that is. A lot of money spent on a good day out, but a total lottery of a result. Don't know how I'd handle an 85 minute winner against us to win the game. But then again, vice versa, and makes all that spend worthwhile! I'm really hoping we get promoted in the top three, for the sake of my nerves and my wallet (to make it clear, I'd be coming over to London with my Mrs and three kids, with one, if not two of the kids wanting to go to the match. For the cup final, I think a two day trip cost me over a grand just for me! Ouch. The things we do for love eh!.)

Guys I loved millwall and maybe we should have won. Our home form worries me in a playoff but it looks like the Welsh wizard as at last got the hang of subs being made asap. I hate play out from the back etc all the time even when it does not work. We also need Clayton on free kicks corners etc. bring it on. Our pressure is also on all the other teams lots of twists and turns.

We all know the play offs are a lottery but just to be involved will be a bonus.
    Fingers crossed.
Far better than been in a relegation battle.

I’m looking forward to finishing fourth or fifth so we are at home in the second leg. Every time City have reached the playoffs we have been away in the second leg 1988, 1996, 2013, 2016 and 2017.

I was at Blackpool, Burton & Fleetwood, (was away for Boro game) particularly first two were just brilliant, Fleetwood just really tense but great result. Also at Millwall which was obviously not great, although the locals did shower us with coins. However, not sure it was out of sympathy or to help journey home???!!??
Overall, I love the play-offs unless they involve Millwall…Billy Clarke, how did you miss??????

All that all being said, top three would save a lot of nerve shredding.

Millwall were the better team, there front two always scored against city. I said to some one the day before I didn't think we would win, because of morrison, and Gregory. If city dont go up this season and don't think they will for years.

As gutting as tonight's hammer blow to our automatic promotion hopes is, it's interesting to see the rise and fall of emotions from this end.

Usually (as in, the Kamara promotion and the Parkinson promotion) we're entering the play offs as the last candidate, sneaking in and stealing the glory.

This year it might be that the shoe is on the other foot; and you can feel how gutted we'll be at missing out on the top 3, and how that could inform our performance (either as a team, or fans, or both) having to play the lethal lottery.

    Kinda getting nightmarish.

On the other hand, we've got the best manager possible, IMO, someone with extreme amounts of big game experience both as a player and a manager, and hopefully he can guide us through this to promotion.

Mark Hughes, step forward! First, to steady the ship and actually secure the play offs (it's not a done deal) if we can't finish in the top 3, and second, to help these players perform under the extreme pressure of a knock out tournament...

    *deep breath*

It's gonna be a bumpy ride!
