Can not remember a season starting with so much positivity on here, almost 80% thinking we are going up.

 

Whilst I'm catiously optimistic, I'm not going overboard on the enthusiasm. I'm seeing the same hyperbole around Adams we had for Bowyer. Chants of 100 points at the start of that season soon went sour.
The last few seasons have kicked the enthusiasm out of me.
My big worry is that the club and Adams have already backed themselves into a situation that they can't get out of. Namely if we don't acheive promotion then either Adams resigns or is sacked.
My issue here is that this once again this puts us back on the managerial merri-go-round.
Tha lack of stability in terms of manager is part of the reason we're in this league and have been stuck here.
If Ryan beleives that Derek Adams is the right man to lead this club forward over the next few years then he needs to back him, even if this season is isn't the roaring success some fans think it will be.

 

I think Adams is probably of the opinion that if promotion from league 2 isn't the aim then what's the point in even bothering.

 

I would agree, if he can get Morcambe promoted ( no disrepect) getting City promoted should be realistic.
We're told by @Fordy117 to be ambitious yet when we say Ryan , Derek and most fan's are being just that, other believe we fans are the problem ,

I predict we'll be here again in a year's time.

A new messiah as manager, a couple of signings to excite us in pre-season, songs about 100 points in August.

Reality is that even with a decent budget next season we have next to nothing build upon. Huge squad overhauls very rarely lead to immediate success.

The club need to ensure the messaging is realistic this year. If Hughes is now to be the one to bring us success, then give him the time to do it.

I predict there'll be talk of promotion though, with Hughes not reaching his third transfer window with us......before we do it all again the year after.

I certainly agree with the latter point, credit where it is due.
The former, i will hold judgment as for now. I so hope to see us succeed. 35 years of City has had highs, some exceptional highs but some lows, the current situation, being one of the exceptional lows.
I'm hopeful we are going in the right direction but what that looks like, on the field, who knows.

Honestly that was nothing compared how it used to be.We didn’t know we had a club from one season to the other in my yoof. It was bad Dave!

 

Don’t disagree Dave, we are where we are. I’m really optimistic this time.

Something that's stood out to me so far in pre season is how much we're looking to press. I think we're going to be a very aggressive, front-foot side this year which is exciting. I know Adams hasn't got a reputation for amazing footy but again from the Park Ave game which I watched and clips from Donny we look to be playing some good stuff. If we can get another forward in on the same level as Cook then I think we can hit the autos. Song'o's going to be key for us also I think, he's gonna be the guy doing the dirty work in midfield that'll give players like Watt or Sutton more freedom to play and get forward. All things considered, so far this is one of the best/most panic-free pre seasons I've seen us have.

Where is it Scunny are right now? Where are Huddersfield right now. One of my local teams Ipswich? It’s ok pizzing money up the wall but, it needs to be sustainable through the hard times.
