The biggest problem is us, the fans.

Our expectations are too high, not in terms of where we want to be, but the timescales we give managers and the people at the top have always reacted to that. We need to be patient, give him time and not hound him out the way we have with Boreya, McCall & Trueman. A dose of Parkyism is required. Pragmatic, patient building.

I'm confident it will happen this season, but if it doesn't (and we show we can compete along the way) then he must be given the time and benefit of the doubt.

 

Yes, I saw them both in the Lord Clyde last night singing the Queen & David Bowie song "Under Pressure" on karaoke. Good job they did of like.

I think Adams is probably of the opinion that if promotion from league 2 isn't the aim then what's the point in even bothering.

 

There's nothing wrong with being ambitious and setting goals.
The trouble is writing cheques with your mouth you can't cash.
If we fail at promotion this season we (the fans) will expect heads to roll because of comments made by Ryan and Adams before a ball was kicked.
If Ryan had said he'd got Derek in to improve things and drive us forward over the next few years fair do. Expectations would be to see consistent progress. But we have an all-or-nothing expectation based on their rhetoric.

I would agree, if he can get Morcambe promoted ( no disrepect) getting City promoted should be realistic.
We're told by @Fordy117 to be ambitious yet when we say Ryan , Derek and most fan's are being just that, other believe we fans are the problem ,

I've just voted for Champions. I'm confident enough to have backed you heavily. I think Adams is a different class of manager to any you've had of late. A new messiah as manager, a couple of signings to excite us in pre-season, songs about 100 points in August.

Reality is that even with a decent budget next season we have next to nothing build upon. Huge squad overhauls very rarely lead to immediate success.

The club need to ensure the messaging is realistic this year. If Hughes is now to be the one to bring us success, then give him the time to do it.

I predict there'll be talk of promotion though, with Hughes not reaching his third transfer window with us......before we do it all again the year after.
