I can dream

 

If we can't be optimist at the start of a new season we're in trouble, no guaretees we know but what we see going on behind the scenes and on the footballing side has got to fill us with optimism IMO obviously.

 

Fair comment, however we appear to be pointing in the right direction, on and off the field, already!

 

Rowe would NOT last 5 mins under Adams, why do you think he was released, bearing in mind Adams had a BIG say in who left the club.

 

I don't do optimism Dave, as I have said a number of times before. I like to be realistic, so far I don't know or have an idea what that looks like. Many teams to make numerous signings, I would imagine.

If I don't set the bar too high, it avoids the (inevitable) disappointment.

I strike it as a measured realistic viewpoint.

 

I certainly agree with the latter point, credit where it is due.
The former, i will hold judgment as for now. I so hope to see us succeed. 35 years of City has had highs, some exceptional highs but some lows, the current situation, being one of the exceptional lows.
I'm hopeful we are going in the right direction but what that looks like, on the field, who knows.

Honestly that was nothing compared how it used to be.We didn’t know we had a club from one season to the other in my yoof. It was bad Dave!

That said, I can only judge as per my personal experiences. I have had it relatively good (stadium, attendances, some damn good teams, facilities et al).
I like to look at the situation as it is now. As I say based upon our recent issues, we are at a relative low....

You certainly don't , as I originally posted there are no guarentees, call me a glass half full kind of guy, Im not saying I'm a 10 but looking at the all round picture with regards the club that has to be a massive improvement on our recent past.
You'd think after being disappointed so many times during the past I would be less optimistic but I can't wait for the first home game then our first away day with the Dolly boys at Mansfield.

 

I'm reasonably optimistic.
We've had four seasons of chaos, low morale and lurching from one manager to another, each with very different ideas. Too many of the players had got used to losing. Most of those have now gone.
For the first time in ages we have appointed a manager that we specifically wanted, rather than a panic knee jerk reaction or easy option. Adams has an established way of playing that has been demonstratively successful at this level. We have recruited early, with a good blend of youth and experience, an abundance of pace, competition for starting places and no substandard makeweight bench warmers. This isn't a guaranteed recipe for success, but it certainly looks a hell of a lot more like it than anything we've seen in recent years
Clearly we do need another striker. If we can find the right one then we should have the quality, strength in depth and organisation to be at least in the playoffs and possible automatics.

I want to be really optimistic. I don't doubt the ability of the gaffer but it looks light in the scoring area. Plenty of time and all that

Like this post. 2 points. Mentality is massive. Obviously polar opposites but a losing mentality is no different to a winning one when going out onto the field. Also Ryan doesn't seem to wait and see what happens. He identifies what he wants and goes for it.

 

Something that's stood out to me so far in pre season is how much we're looking to press. I think we're going to be a very aggressive, front-foot side this year which is exciting. I know Adams hasn't got a reputation for amazing footy but again from the Park Ave game which I watched and clips from Donny we look to be playing some good stuff. If we can get another forward in on the same level as Cook then I think we can hit the autos. Song'o's going to be key for us also I think, he's gonna be the guy doing the dirty work in midfield that'll give players like Watt or Sutton more freedom to play and get forward. All things considered, so far this is one of the best/most panic-free pre seasons I've seen us have.

 

Amazing reputation or not only Cambridge and Exeter scored more goals than Morecame scored last season, I'll be more than happy to see City
in the high 60s, Ill take an average of 1.5 goals a game and more with the right blend of attacking options .
