Pretty balanced and fair reflection. My thoughts exactly.

Step forward the person who voted for relegation.

name your odds and I’ll have £100 on it.

Obviously works though Kevin. Scunny splashed the cash for 2/3 seasons and it got them out of div 1. Likewise, the german guy running a Yorkshire outfit used his impressive budget to get them out of the same division.

We are 18’s to get relegated.
    Salford are only 33’s

Where is it Scunny are right now? Where are Huddersfield right now. One of my local teams Ipswich? It’s ok pizzing money up the wall but, it needs to be sustainable through the hard times.

    Remember a guy called Richmond?

    That’s my whole point.

You misread my thoughts Kevin. The Yorkshire team I was thinking of was run by a German, not coached by one. The German coach had a budget that made them favourites to go down, not make it up to the prem. Shows that organisation is perhaps more important than money alone.

Good post. I wholeheartedly agree with another striker, as you denote. That I'm certain will happen and my gut feeling is it will be marquee signing, relative to our level.

I'm off work due to a dislocated shoulder, so gonna get the game in v Blackburn on Saturday to get a feel of the structure, dynamic, work rate and eh, fitness (this is important I'm led to believe :joy:) of the squad.

    I
I maybe misread, just say City not a Yorkshire club I’d perhaps get it that’s what you are referring to. I wasn’t referring to Germans in the slightest , coaches , nor chairmen.
I was indicating chucking tons of money at something isn’t sustainable, nor healthy in the long term for a small club to survive. .

That’s like saying if you earn £100k a year you’ll only buy a modest house and car ‘just in case’ of hard times.

The problem with football is that contracts are deemed priority debt and if not paid the EFL / PL take away your status whereas in normal business a company would simply make staff redundant, form a new company then re-hire them all

maybe it’s time for football contracts to be limited to 2 years

Not like that at all, way off beam. Bricks and mortar is an investment . Since when has it been any different. give or take minor market fluctuations. If you see hard times you sell bricks and mortar at PROFIT. I’ve you are coming back with “it’s like” use one with a bit closer to reality

I know and my post was intended to agree with you by pointing out how much Scunny and ourselves spent to get out of div 1 which we both succeeded in doing. Please don't get like a poster on here who sees other posts as a personal affront even when their clarity isn't all as they should be.

True, but with wage cap lifted and a side improved on last year, money can make a difference this year when compared to others

Than Salford ? Absolutely, categorically, f@@king yes, as Paul Weller would say.

I can tell you their season now. Fly out of the blocks for a month, fall off badly by new year, sack Bowyer and recover to finish 8th.
