I haven’t said I do but in general sports scientists and the likes aren’t really 'personal opinion' appointments. A sports scientist of Livingstons level is likely to be 'worse' than city’s level as even as a league 1 club they are a bigger club. As I said it’s usually assistants and coaches where the quality is more subjective and are more likely to be the likes you bring along and his Livingston ones all signed new deals apart from Hartson

It is the players at his disposal that is defining tactics. Don’t you think he would play 442 if he could, it is the way to go when you are leaking goals like we are, but we don’t have any proper full backs, they are all wing backs. We need Stephen Darby types, solid defenders that can put a tackle in and cross a ball.

    Play 4-4-1-1 or 5-4-1 or 4-5-1.

In other words keep in tight!

We're so open and can't defend. It's poor.

    Hopkin has made no difference

Wait Tom doesn’t have a club! That is crazy. Saw him play a lot at youth level at United and despite some injury issues seemed destined to make it. It was a surprise when LVG preference McNair over him so he didn’t get a chance.

He doesn’t seem to have done great since leaving which is as shame but if he is available I would take a punt

Stop making Hopkin to be some sort of messiah. He’s not very good himself. He’s just another in a long line of dour very dour Scotmsen that British football seem to produce. If his latest interviews are anything to go by, no wonder we are bottom.

My initial take on rumours about Gillingham being potentially Hoppy's last game is one of utter bollox.

However, if he isn't given the tools particularly in January he's alluded to several times, then it will give him the perfect cop-out to leave the club.
I'm to believe he came here after been given assurances that funds (and players of his choice) will be available for the next window.
But, I can't see where the club would find this extra budget, we're self-serving and the fact that much of the club was purchased via use of a loan. Illustrates to me that there's no way Mr Ruin is going to invest funds from his own pocket into Bradford City, to try resurrect a strategy that was pure folly to start with.

Therefore, what I do think is just whispers of bollox, may intimately have some credence to it. eeeeek

Well he most certainly does not look or sound happy. He has stopped exalting the Rahic propaganda crap. It could just be absolute frustration or he is not getting the support he was promised or a combination of both. The one thing I do know R&R need to keep our current manager happy despite results, because we not only don’t have the money to pay off yet another manager, we will also be unable to attract another. Of course this is all self inflicted.

Any money left needs to be invested in the squad.

    I would take Thorpe.
If he has kept his fitness levels up anyway
Big lad good in the air. Could bring some strength to centre mid.

problem is we can't protect the back 4, create chances and we can't score.

When you can't defend, do anything in midfield and can't score you normally have a problem, a HUGE f**king problem.

He wasn't very good and isn't better than anything we have, especially when you have the O'bs together.

Doesn't matter what system he plays. We can't defend full stop. First goal in the Coventry Tuesday night game was conceded when everyone was defending, first minute.

Worst thing that could have happened to Hopkin was Jim O’Brien getting injured. We at least looked to be somewhere near competitive when he played. The central midfield signings in the summer, coupled with Reeves being permanently injured would have killed off any manager let alone someone as inexperienced as Collins.

Could you play him in a midfield three with LOB and JOB, or even a five if we go 451? Right now I think we need to be building a team that is hard to play against, at the expense of creativity.

You could I suppose but I just don't think he was very good and definitely not a player that would be difficult to play against. LOB and JOB with Akpan should/could be solid. Reeves looks like he'll never play again, Wright should never play again, unfortunately Devine doesn't look like he's going to be back for a while which is a shame as I think he could do a job in the middle.

Reeves is a funny one. When he signed, SM was raving about his stamina and just never stopping. You could see that in his early games, and I'd guess that his injury impacted on this. He was clearly in good shape before his injury and it seems to be taking a long time to recover from it.

Akpan needs to stand up and contribute.

If the assurances that funds to bring in players of Hopkin's choice will be available in January are genuine, it could all be irrelevant anyway. Does anyone honestly believe that the players Hopkin has identified would want to come here? The only way I can see him attracting the players he wants is if we start to pick up points and get out of the danger zone. Unfortunately, the likelihood of that happening anytime soon seems remote at the moment.

Unfortunately I have to agree. There won't be any enthusiasm to join a sinking ship.
Hopkin needs to turn it around and soon. I for one still have faith in him.

Last five years under Mccarthy they finished 6th, 7th, 9th,16th and 12th. On a downer yes it seems but never struggling. Mccarthy worked absolute Wonders in that division on a shoestring budget especially the teams he was up against. When the fans wanted MM out i dont think they anticipated him being replaced by a shrewsbury towm manager. A couple of parallels in our tale, and perhaps a warning of being careful what you wish for
