How was your day today @Onside, good meal ?, the result was pleasing just the hangover to sleep off.

 

It’s something I’d like to see and said the same in my other post. Vaughan isn’t a target man but can still hold onto the ball, and he offers more pace and goal threat than Donaldson. Either way it’s a stark contrast to our forwards last season who were soft as snow, and the ball would come back at us at will.

 

Had a fabulous day, been spoilt all day, fancy balloons and cake as well Yes the meal was fine, but large portions for me, had to leave a bit. We were well looked after. Loved meeting all the players, good of them to come up and speak to the fans, I know it is part of their job, but I am sure they must want to get home.


We went onto Mam Mia after, but I was still stuffed from lunch, but the grandsons enjoyed it.

Our seats are directly in front of where the opposition directors etc sit, to the right of where you come through from the suites, you should have asked for a discount at Mama Mia's for your birthday and also being an ardent Bradford City fan.

 

Just read Swindon haven't beaten any side in the top 10 - we had that accolade ourselves until we beat Swindon.

You can see from those factoids and certain stats that the current table definitely won't resemble the final standings.

I would say, though, that thus far we do look a side that should be in the top 7 come the end of the season. I've said 7th in the preseason, but since Bowyer strengthened the midfield considerably with Cooke, Pritchard, and Connolly, I think we might be capable of even more.

I said there was no way GB could transform the team in one Summer... but maybe he's already added enough quality to get out of L2 at the first attempt.

Good game today although frustrating at times. Akpan had his best game at VP in my view, he is coming from a low base though, yes he still stood off tackling and was slow and gave the ball away, but I counted 4 passages of really good play from him, plus following that ball in and scoring. He needs to keep that up and more.

We controlled the game and Swindon just looked ordinary. Donaldson does a lot of donkey work, which helps the side out, but that in my inhibits his ability to get chances to score. Mellor was definitely below par today, but I am sure he will know that himself, and pick up his game next match.

Do you sit in those seats every match? Can you sit there without the meal? Very good view up there.

 

Did anybody else think their goal was offside? I did at the match, but I will have a look at the highlights tomorrow.

 

At the time, no, I didn't think it was offside.

The highlights kind of make it look like it was, but it might just be the angle - none of our players even hinted at a protest either, so it's hard to be confident it shouldn't have stood.

 

Donaldson, i'm not his biggest fan due to the chances hes missed, has been part of and created 10 times more goals threat than Vaughan.
Vaughan stifles our attack by not playing down the middle where he should be. he pulls out wide getting in the way of any overlapping full backs or midfield.
This was fully exposed last week at Scunny. I watched him closely. Disappointing.

All hinges on those 3 staying fit, especially cooke. If he gets injured, we're back to anderson, gibson and devine in midfield, which is a scary thought.

Bowyer's post match interview was telling. When asked about Akpan he kept making points about work rate and intensity. I think that's key - he needs to get, and stay properly match fit. If he focuses on having the legs to keep getting into the box, he'll get goals because hes built like an absolute tank.

That system, with those players could very well be the best side weve got. But we need to replicate performances of that level consistently.

 

Completely agree. Januaru ain't a million miles away. We need to be bringing in more midfield quality, and perhaps another striker.

 

He did say he expected a couple of transfer windows so maybe a few more coming in winter
