After what some of us felt was a good point and others 2 dropped, I think a point against Swindon Town would be a good result given RE, P, I, and V are out.

A win would be good enough for play offs however.

    Agreed. The line up should be;

    O'D
    H
    W
    O'C
    O'C
    P
    C
    A
    C
    O
    D

We should have enough with that lot to get a positive result. Especially considering D can't play for them.

A point at home would certainly not be a good result.

If we want to be in a position to get promotion, be it by the automatics or even the play offs, then we need to be beating a team which is fifth. We have lost to Forest green and dropped a point to Cambridge. Drop another two and it starts to become a problem. If we beat them we leap frog over them and are in the play offs.
I may sound a little like another well known poster, but we really need to establish a strong set of home results.

It's got to be a win all day long otherwise why bother turning up.
Let's do the pretenders to the throne, that what their demented fans would have you believe now they have Doyle the Great playing for them.
Shame he's allegedly not available I would have liked to give him a piece of my mind from behind the advertising boards, don't want to break any ground rules of course.

Again, like others have posted, we need to be looking for wins at home, nevermind the opposition. We should be looking to win every game and put the opposition on the back foot rather than worrying about them.

Am I reading this correctly. Firstly, a point against a team 23rd and down to ten men the majority of the game is good? Secondly, how on earth can a draw at home be seen as good? With comments like this we deserve to be in League Two.

    1. A point away is ALWAYS a good result unless you're Manchester City or Liverpool.

    2. We have 4 key players out of contention against a team flying high in the league.

No wonder other fans call us deluded with comments like these.

You’re in the minority here. Playing any team struggling for form and down to ten men for the majority, is definitely 2 points dropped.

Where I do agree with you is that a point this weekend will be good. Swindon are well placed and we have players missing. It will be tough, hence why I have gone 1-2 in the prediction thread.

By the way, is Ishmael definitely out?

Surely the home draw against Cambridge was 2 points dropped?

Whilst I agree that home form is important, beating teams in 5th isn’t an easy task, especially with so many 1st team players missing.

Correct a typo. Two points lost against Cambridge!

However if we are going to mount a credible promotion push, then winning our home games is very important. We already have lost and drawn at home.

We will play many teams away from home who will pose a far greater threat than Scunthorpe.

Home form is the foundation to getting promotion. If we draw then that will be Won 3 drawn 2 and Lost 1.

Extrapolate that sort of form across the season and that would be about mid 40 points from the home matches and we would need another 35-40 points from our away games to get an automatic spot.

3 won 1 draw 1 very controversial loss. Id say not bad.

10 out of 15. Equal to 46 pts over a home season. Needing around 37 pts awaybased on 83 pts to go up aut

I don't know if the loss to Forest Green was 'very controversial', but we could certainly have won that game.

It's easy to get obsessed about who we're not beating and whatnot, and why we aren't blowing teams away, but equally there is no team in this division that has shown us up.

Cheltenham will feel very fortunate to have beaten us, Forest Green will feel very fortunate to have beaten us, Crewe beat us in a pretty even game, and Scunthorpe will be delighted with a point.

If you flip to thinking like the opposition, absolutely nobody will be confident about beating us, and no one has looked significantly superior. That's probably why we are where we are.

Whilst I agree with you on one hand, I disagree on the other. The damage was done with those 2 dropped points against Cambridge and the points dropped against Rovers. This is where we have failed..... not dropping points against the likes of Swindon, who will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

Bronco, do the lads do a light training session on a Friday? I've just moved to Apperley Bridge I'll pop down on my day off if there's enough room in that hedge that you and @Silverbantam@Silverbantam poke your binoculars through. I'll make a flask and bring some sandwiches down ;)

Seems like both teams will be missing key players on Saturday. Both missing our top scorer, assuming Doyle cannot play on Saturday, still havent read any official confirmation.

Hopefully we can welcome back Ismail. If fit, I would be tempted to play Pritchard and Cooke in central misfield, with Connolly and Ismail out wide. I presume though he will go with Akpan and Cooke, with Ismail on the bench.

Got my pessimistic hat on for this one, and I think Swindon will beat us by the odd goal

Ismail back in training earlier this week. He’ll no doubt start on the bench. Palmer a big miss. BRE had an average last few games but definitely a stand out player this season, hopefully he can re-find his form when he comes back and for me, Vaughan hasn’t done a great deal all season. Josh Wright has outscored him...enough said.

Oteh should take his chance. Akpan no doubt in for Palmer.

    Prediction: 1-2
