Agree with most of that. The one thing that concerned me a bit yesterday was that Crawley looked fitter than us as the game wore on. As you say, we were on our knees toward the end. Some good defending though, everyone seemed to be putting their tired bodies on the line for the cause.

I thought Henley did fine. Having a right back who can pass a football was a refreshing change.

 

Agreed. Without doubt on the basis of this season, the best of the 3 centre halfs.

 

The only issue for me is the centre forward role. I wouldn't want Donaldson playing Saturday, Tuesday so either play Vaughan for both or start the Don on Saturday and then give him a rest on Tuesday.

 

Oh I still think he's a kn0b, but credit where it's due, he's one of the first names on the team sheet for me at the moment.

 

Only change for me is Mellor gives us another attacking option and good in the air for set pieces. And for once a bloody good bench in case.

 

Interesting how differently we all see things. For me, the strongest pairing has been BRE and AOC so if changes were made, it would have to be Paudie out for BRE for me. That said, neither deserve to be dropped just because BRE is available again so maybe he will just have to bide his time on the bench.

 

Akpan for dissent? As it won't be for tackling.

 

Connolly could be a miss. Pressure on Zeli to perform.

 

That quarter was garbage. Whole team looked tired, and the subs couldn't derail Crawley's momentum once they scored.

Having said that, best team overall won, Oteh unlucky not to score, Vaughan got found out by the ref, but he far too isolated.

Akpan had a good three quarters, Henley did all right, missed Connolly in my opinion, and Clayton was badly needed for that last 15.

But, we got over the line and it's another three points against a credible side.

Yes Simon Parker said it was a foul the other way but as I posted someone the other day said this the ref was card happy, by all means get a yellow for breaking an atracking move down but I've not seen many referees change their minds because a player gives him earache.
I know its part of his game a little like Tony McMhoan but he has been in the game long enough to know when to get in the referees ear and when not to.

 

Cracking save by the keeper mind. His ability to get across and spread his body.

 

More the excellent save than a missed sitter.

 

Crawley were lively opponents. You could see how they score every game. When the chant Gary Gary give is a wave that God awful song went up It seemed to give Crawley extra impetus. It might just be me but some seem to think it is smart. It only smacks of arrogance and over confidence and any team worth their salt will dig and and say can you hear them and redouble their efforts. I cringe every time I hear it as it gives the opponent an opportunity to say feck you lot.

 

That's about 10 points he's won us this season now... fully redeemed in my eyes

 

Despite winning both matches, a bit concerning in the last 2 games is that Morecambe and Crawley managed to get away about 50 shots on goal between them. We are going to come unstuck soon if that persists

Crawley higher in the league than I thought and are the only league 2 side who have scored in every league game so far, and a tie against Colchester away from the quarter finals of the League cup. Underestimate them at our peril

 

Wouldn’t leave Connolly out his pace makes a big difference
