Generally, the leagues pretty terrible though. For instance how on earth did this Stevenage team keep Exeter honest for 80 minutes

If we get in the play-offs then we'll have shown some form and to be honest, other than Plymouth I fear none of those in the play-off positions right now

The fact that Northampton are in their, who run Stevenage a close second as the worst team this season to come to VP, illustrate the point

Then again Mansfield will be rightly asking how on earth we are where we are

Attendance was utterly sparse again last night a bit like the Cheltenham game a couple of weeks ago.

About 5,000 - 6,000 again I’d say. Though this time I think the weather was to blame not Bowyer!

First half was awful, but fair play to McCall, he effected a response at half time. Bowyer generally didn't do that after a poor first half.

Lots to work on and I dont see this squad being good enough, so the summer will be crucial.

I was thinking exactly the same. I even posted on here last night, after the second goal that we had 4 bodies in the box to be on the end of the cross. Simply didn't happen under Bowyer, and it IS the most basic stuff. Get and try to pass forward. Taking throw in's properly. Basic, basic stuff. And then you look at some of Bowyers signings - terrible judge of a player.

Come the summer, Vaughan comes back in. Be interesting to see whether we keep him and try to get proper value out of him in a side that attacks.

And on a pitch that offered little for a footballer which Jake is.

In that case he'll be on about £12.50 a week

I doubt it. When Devitt was on loan here previously, McCall was at Motherwell. And looking at Devitt's career, their paths don't appear to have crossed.

Somebody implied he wasn't in the McCall camp when McCall was here last. That shouldn't be surprising since Devitt wasn't even at VP during McCall's last spell! Imo, it's other posters making stuff up.

I honestly think we would have taken 1pt max from last 2 games if GB had still been in charge - players with limited quality, desire and confidence. Well done Stuart for at least making a real difference at half time last night

If you look at last night's fixtures several clubs had very long journeys. Can't imagine why these were scheduled for midweek when it's difficult for fans to get there and the possibility of postponement is high at this time of year.

Fordy wrote Mcartan off long ago. It doesn't count that he scored two yesterday and a cracker against Swindon. They were just lucky blips, even though he's had little game time.
In the end it's just the law of averages. Call numerous players crap and you are bound to get quite a few right.

It was a lovely assist from the Stevenage lad for McCartan’s opener

Agreed. It always narks me off when teams take the ball into the corner, especially when it's from a corner kick. It's anti football and rarely wastes much time, often ending in a goal kick. I'd much rather see us try to score another goal and make the game safe. Obviously you wouldn't commit too many forward from an attacking corner near full time - you'd keep enough back to block any break.
Trying to run down the clock near the corner flag is one of my real pet hates in football, whether we do it or the opposition. I wish there was a way to outlaw it. If I had my way I'd call it Ungentlemanly Conduct and just add on the attempted time wasted.

It’s got to be Novak on current form. To break away on that pitch to take that goal so coolly was impressive. TBH Donaldson wouldn’t have scored it.

Well, one of these days Clayton will score from open play right?

His scoring record at Bolton and now here leaves alot to be desired, but cannot fault his all round effort.

He did make a difference. Watch the replay for the second goal. Not enough but for goodness sake let’s not throw him on the scrap heap yet.

I think Guthrie will come in for Donaldson. Probably DMH and/or Middleton too. Dont think there'll be many more changes than that.

Hopefully we build on Saturdays performance, get the result, and we crack on from there

Lots of rain about but I don’t think we’ll see much snow around Valley Parade. If the pitch isn’t waterlogged, I’ll be surprised.

But if the game does go ahead, I don’t see the changes that some are suggesting. Ben isn’t a great footballer but he is a decent defender. He won quite a bit of ball against James Hanson, so I can’t see Stuart dropping him for Paudie.

Jake Reeves had his best game in a while. I’m not sure why some want him dropping. He and Callum performed fairly well together. Our issue was in the wide areas where both Harry and Dylan Connolly had zero end product. I can see the other Dylan starting in front of him and possibly (if fit), Jamie starting instead of Harry.

But I don’t see any other changes.

Just thought Everton was poor on the ball and if you want to play 4-4-2 attacking then you need players good on the ball
