Couldn't put it better myself. I have a year left before my lad makes his way (hopefully) to university. Do I really want to spend that time with him in a covid restricted stadium watching what amounts to a brand of football hardly any better than watching non league? Ifollow actually lays bare just how poor these players are, watching live you can get caught up in the game or chat with people around you. When you actually sit at home and 'admire' the talent on show more often than not its crap.
I took my lad to the playoff final for his first game about 8 years ago. That connection the club made to my lad has all but disappeared. Its gonna take a lot more than cheesy soundbytes in interview friendly articles with Radio Leeds and WOAP to turn that around. Feel pretty flat about football right now.

I think what's annoying about the way we're setting up and playing is that it feels like Andy Cook is the only one who can get anywhere near a finish.

Callum Cooke missed a sitter from the glimpses I saw, but Vernam is a total bust and Evans is past it. I can see why so many wanted two up front, but I just think we need to find some wingers who can actually score or assist.

This formation is based entirely on quality wingers. We don't seem to have any, though we did at least try to recruit some.

 

Where do you even start with that shower? Absolutely appaling from start to finish. As others have said, playing for a point at home with nothing at stake is disgusting.

The Novak for Cook sub did it for me. I knew it was coming but was still amazed when it happened. Vernam put three of four decent crosses into the box but Cook was outnumbered as usual. Clear as day we needed more men in the box, a gamble that a manager with balls would've taken and put two strikers on. Instead we make the trademark T&S striker for striker sub.

Then taking off Vernam, who I thought had his best game tonight, whilst leaving that waste of a shirt Evans on the pitch is a disgrace.

These two haven't got a clue, its obvious. They only know one way and that way will not get us promoted, its as simple as that.

Ryan, please bite the bullet and get shut. We cannot let them oversee another window and then waste another season next season. The fan base is already dwindling and losing interest, we cannot afford to not get promoted next season.

 

During the early part of their campaign, we had runners breaking the lines and increased numbers of attempts and shots on target. Slowly but surely we’ve reversed quicker than a politician. They’ve become that scared of defeat, they’ve abandoned trying to win. Playing for a 0-0 is fraught with danger and as we saw last night, one goal in injury time and no time to recover. This team has lost the art of attacking because they’ve been drilled to remove risk, therefore any attempts to go forward are incoherent and inevitably break down. Backwards, sideways, slow tempo. All very good if you have a cutting edge killer ball or passage of play, but it invariably it ends with a punt to Cook or hit into touch.

At first the players lauded the amount of information they received about their opponents. Admirable from T & S, but something you’d expect from a coach and not the manager. Therein lies the problem, they might be good coaches but they lack the skills and experience needed to manage at this level right now.

 

However much information the players are getting about the opposition, its clear that other teams are getting more about us.

To be fair, there isn't that much information to give about us. Half a side of A4 should do it.

 

Can't defend the penalty box. Plenty of crosses, target the full backs, stop Cooke, they've nothing out wide and no pace in behind, throw in a bit of shithousery, job done.

What also funny is many of you were saying Cooke makes this formation. Cooke has to be one of the worst number 10’s for shooting. He has no pace. Don’t get me wrong he’s decent but he’s no one to build a team round.

Wood has been playing out the season in 1st gear. He so wants out and needs to go now anyway.

 

Speaks volumes that Salford changed to 3 up front to try win the game while we stayed one up front and just changed like for like, Salford deserved to win because their manager wanted the win more than our lot did

 

There was a moment in the 2nd half where Wood completely bottled a 50/50. Anyone else notice it?

I think everyone agrees that we have got what we deserve this season, we really do need a big overhaul of this squad in the summer. Two new fullbacks, although I think Sutton is young enough to make a good right back from the bits I have seen of him there. I would let AOC go, although when we talk about effort from players if it hadn't been for him you could have added a couple more goals to last night's score.for
Of the keepers I would only keep Hornby but probably as the no 2. If as we hear there are clubs that want Watt I would let him go and use the money on an abrasive central midfield player who I would make captain. I agree with Fordy that Callum Cooke's shooting and goals input is a disgrace.
If we sign Andy Cook it can't be to play as a lone striker, he isn't quick enough and his first touch isn't good enough. As for Novak I'm not sure we will offer him a contract due to his fitness issues.
A lot of us keep saying we need to get rid of everyone and start again but I think we know that isn't going to happen so we need to pick out the bones of what we've got.
Thinking about it if we take Canavan and Paudie as our first choice centre backs they will need back up and will struggle to get anyone with AOC's experience.
