I had Radio Leeds on after the game for the general chat chat about the game and was shocked that many thought it was a good game to watch.
I accept football is about opinions but there was little positivity I could take from last night's game, it was not an easy watch seeing us create very little going forward and Salford allowing us to play out from the back knowing once they pushed up on our defender the ball would ultimately be played back
to Hornby who would then welly it up field.
No matter how Trueman wants to dress it up it was once again a very poor all round display, they will soon find out that a live audience inside Valley Parade will not tolerate these sortof performances, that is of course if they are still in their present positions.

 

Do what I do Bronco.I listened with incredulity to the tranmere post match interview and haven't bothered to listen to them since.

 

I am sorry but I disagree it was a decent game for this level. Salford expensively put together team have an outstanding defensive record 33 goals conceded in 44 games. This was a game they had to win. The first half we started well and should have had at least one in the first twenty minutes until they started to get it together. The second half was fairly even but we had a great chance which Cooke should have buried.
With Cooke in the team I thought the system looked much better. I accept it’s all about results but to be beaten by a goal when two players are offside in the last minute was hard to take. But despite the hysteria the display was not nearly as bad as some make out

 

But sitting back, at home, holding out for a draw when we have nothing to lose by going for it is unforgivable. Remember when we used to go to matches and the last ten minutes were all about us attacking the Kop trying to get a win, or pull a draw back. The smell, the atmosphere, the roar when the board goes up for seven minutes injury time ?

That's all I want from my team, passion and fight. If they lose giving that then so be it. We haven't had any of that since Parkinson left, correction, we haven't had it since we let players who wear their heart on their sleeve like Vince, McArdle & Hanson go.

There isn't a player in this team that has got as much passion about getting a positive result as Rory McArdle had in his little toe.

Yes I agree. He had a great block in the area in the first half too, and headed block of a goal bound shot towards the end. No doubt the cynics on here will be saying he has upped his game cos he's after a new contract.

 

He is a regular target as scapegoat but in reality he is a decent lower league defender

 

A decent game? The forest Green game was the only decent game out of the last 15 to 20 games. Last night's game was the usual league 2 dross, I thought Salford were poor despite their big wage bill. Football is about results and entertainment, we ain't getting either at the moment. I dont blame Trueman for all of that, Rhodes and Rupp had already tried to chance their way through this season and it failed miserably and Trueman is still feeling some of the effects of having a very average squad of players to work with.
Touch and go as to wether they are worth another transfer window to take us forward. I think they'll get it but I have no confidence at this moment they are the ones to take us forward.

 

Now this I can agree with. The teams that do well will have two or three players that get mentions in a possible team of the season, like Mullin and Hoolahan at Cambridge. Unfortunately we don't have one player who would get near a team of the season. Unless we find these players for next season we ain't going up.

 

If AOC - The problem being he was bought to take us up the leagues, not down. I think a fresh start is needed for club and player.

 

That's what I said people thought it was a decent game I didnt and that's why football is a great game.

If it was that good a game as you suggest you wouldn't need to tell others what they saw for themselves, we should have had a goal in the first 20 minutes but we didn't, or telling us Salford put a expensive team out that's good management, to use the tools available, they are an ambitious club with enough finacial clout to get to the Championship.
They made a very important call recently getting rid of Richie Wellens a manager who most would agree tries to play the game in the correct manner as most fans would want the game to be played, a manager who had got them into a great position, but the powers that be at Salford thought he couldn't finish the job, I believe we have a similar decision to make very soon.
If Ryan is happy with T&S and allows them a transfer window and they don't get it right it could cost us another season in the bottom division of English football and although I class myself as a patient fan enough is enough, we have to believe as fans purchasing/renewing our season tickets we have faith in who ever has the reins can deliver, at this present moment in time I can't honestly say I believe T&S can.

 

But appointing another manager from the list of previously failed managers is no guarantee of success either and our past record proves it. There were plenty of people calling for Parky’s head in his first season but the management stuck with him and looked what happened. Same with Paul Jewell loads of people wanted rid of him but Richmond stuck with him.
Reading these boards and looking at opinions of people on here we have a very poor team which T&S guided from the abyss despite recent set backs so they need and deserve to be given a second window but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sparks bottles it

 

Players definitely don't suddenly attempt to put in more effort just to secure that new contract.

Both Parky and Jewell though had the benefits of long League careers, Parky indeed as one of Reading's "greats / hall-of-famers / legends". Parky also had the added advantage of already being an established League manager. T&S have neither of these advantages.

I was optimistic about them, and was certainly in favour of them continuing into next season. But this past run is very worrying. So far, all half-time deficits under them have turned into losses; subs tend to be predictable and uninspiring; the style is negative. As others have mentioned, their approach seems more influenced by being afraid of losing than by being enthusiastic about winning. This worked to drag us out of real danger, but they haven't developed from there.

Indeed they seem to be very much like most of us, I dare say, were after we'd got our degrees/qualifications/whatever, and were now out in the real world, full of theory and book knowledge but in desperate need of that real-world experience that will tell them when to follow the book, and when to throw it out. They don't seem to be developing enough at the tail end of this season; can we trust them to do it in time for next?

It was Jewell’s first go at Managment and it could be argued that Parky’s first seasons results and performances were worse than recent performance from T&S.
I think given the chance the duo will do well the question is will they be given that chance or are we going to take another step into the unknown
