Seen their goal again and it’s abysmal defending. Just foul him near the corner and defend the set piece. So naive.

being back Doyle. I don’t care what anyone says about Bowyers style. He would have had a couple in that first half with his form. Don’t care what he thinks he’s our player and we need to get out of this god awful league.

Scunthorpe, Northampton, Plymouth all coming into form now. Swindon the form side in the division. We need to get points on the board and get into that top 3

You've got to love how Doyle himself has already come out and told us how Swindon are getting the best out of him only for @Park bantam@Park bantam to disagree and put his success down to a target man that doesn't exist.

Yates is 5ft 7 and couldn't be further away from a target man. Swindon don't play hoofball either so don't need a donkey upfront to "play off". It's utter utter nonsense to say doyle can only play upfront with a partner and that partner has to be a target man.

Strangely enough though, in the 3 5 2 we played yesterday, Doyle would have hit a first half hat trick.

For the first 25 minutes when we passed the ball we looked a very good side and certainly created enough for Doyle to get chances.

I said ‘always’ meaning that we use the same material, injury/illness, over and over again. It wasn’t just yesterday, it was Macclesfield (where are they now), Leyton and yesterday. Our inability to be clinical is really costing us.

Yesterday we apparently had 61% of the possession and (an unbelievable) 26 shots according to the BBC stats. Yet we cannot use that to get a win at home against a mediocre side.

We really now need two decent additional strikers, perhaps Oteh to go/McCartan to go out on loan and with some fresh strikers, start to demolish some of these teams we come up against.

The lad Asante was a pain In the arse all game. Thought he played really well up against our 3 CH. Looked far more a player than our CF yesterday. Used his strength really well. Was impressed.

Doyle has also come out and said we don't suit him - it's a waste of time bringing him back in Doyle's own opinion. Doesn't stop the endless calls to cram him into our starting line up.

It's not Doyle's choice. Bring him back whatever it takes. Not even for football reasons. We are bankrolling someone else's promotion push when we are drifting out of the race.

Unfortunately non of the above can happen until January, and unless Rupp is happy to loosen the purse strings our transfer dealing will evolve around the Doyle situation, if only we could guarantee bringing back Doyle would be the answer to our goal scoring problem.

Couldn’t you say that about every league in the world in the history of football?

we have all practically played the same amount of games. You deserve to finish where you finish

It doesn't make sense to bring Doyle back 'not for footballing reasons.

I don't give a crap where Swindon finish, particularly if we're drifting out of the race!

They can win by 100 points, it makes no difference. We need to improve our own team, if Doyle isn't the right man, he needs to stay where he is.

Bringing Doyle back AND signing reinforcements makes zero sense.

When you see the points are identical in L1, it really shows that there is nothing unusual about a team with 36 points being fifth.

Were there on merit, nothing to do with other teams.

I agree but this a static view of positions.Behind, sits the reality of how teams are getting there with current form. A real time view would highlight a sequence indicating the true picture I think. From a City perspective, we are there on merit, but are not meriting such, whilst we drop points to those lower in the table.

Sadly Dave our inability to be clinical and convert possession and shots into goals, could well persist.

How confident are you of 6 points before January?

If/When we fail to win, will it be injury and/or illness trotted out as an explanation?

The way these ‘reasons’ are touted regularly, is becoming very wearisome. The fact is that other teams experience similar issues, yet despite that they can stop us!

When the thread was posted about our next 4 games pre and post Christmas I posted I thought we were capable of getting maximum points, obviously after yesterday we can't now, but I'm certainly not making excuses unless you think me slating Paudie for being an amateur with that kind of defending can be classed as excuses.
Yesterday was much better than we've seen recently but it's not a bit of good as you say if the chances we create are not dispatched, although it was not for lack of trying even if you only watch that video clip there goal lead a charmed life with Neil the Salford keeper pulling two excellent save off as well as Cooke striking the post.

But their number 7 missed a sitter in the 1st half.

    We were toothless.
