Very poor communication all round especially in this era of social media. From what has been said its hard to decipher what the hell is going on. Nowt out for myself, couldn't care less whether its on or not, but for Plymouth fans its disgusting. Theres loads of information weather wise out there, if Boyesen thinks for any reason or has a shred of doubt regarding the next hour or two he should call it off.

 

It's been a garbage game on a garbage pitch. One bit of quality from Connolly aside, theres nothing entertaining about watching games on a surface like that. Good scoreline though.

 

I still enjoy the winning of games.

 

How many bloody chances do this lot need??????

 

Henley is a disaster waiting to happen.

 

You're right in that respect Bots - but hell the chances that we had from only a few yds out that were missed was unbelievable (Jeff!!) Plymouth should have gone away with at least five goals stuck up them. In the end we're hanging on a bit!

 

Good result, but my god Donaldson and Novak are crap.

 

Completely wasted under Bowyer. What a missed opportunity.

 

Didn't think Reeves had a good game. Did his usual sloppy tackling from behind which always results in a foul/booking. A few misplaced passes, and a few times caught in position.
HOWEVER, considering he was the only midfielder in the centre of the park, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Doing the work of two men is always tough.
Now that Cooke is back, surely it's time to drop Akpan.

 

Thoughts on some of the players:

Donaldson - criminal miss in the second half, you just can't have a seasoned striker missing those chances.
Novak - passenger most of the time, bad miss at the end
Motley Henry - the lad keeps coming on and contributing very little, not only that but once Stuart had switched the right hand side to DMH and Henley we looked very fragile yet again. DMH does not defend at all, and is a bit of a liability. Looks like a kid learning the game, but isn't that what he should have been doing at the Barnsley Development Squad...?
McCartan - reasonable game, but I don't know how many free kicks he would have needed before hitting the target!
Connolly - MOTM by a country mile, the Plymouth defence couldn't get to grips with him and his free role-type position made him a nightmare to deal with. What a strike, but I hardly expect the same again next week.
Akpan - already said it, he is the absolute worst.
Wood & Reeves - two neat footballers, tidied up a lot
Mellor/Henley - both poor, Henley weakened the team when he came on however
BRE/AOC - finally, a goal from our lumps!
ROD - generally steady, had a 'mare for their goal

 

No shock that.

He needs to stop backing off and backing off though Dave, lets his man run at him and get in the area, once in the area he can't make a challenge in case of conceding a penalty. He needs to engage his man outside the area and make a challenge.

 

Lucky ? Did you see the chances we had Connolly was excellent. But Stuart nearly made the same mistake that cost us at Grimsby moving him away from the right give them more freedom to play down that side and they looked a threat. But overall a good three points. Got to do something away now

 

Don't get the constant dislike of Mellor amongst some and I also don't see where you give him only 3

In the first half, that defence kept a good team honest and to be fair Mellor played it very well. I think you're so annoyed with the last few weeks you now fail to see a decent performance - easily Mellor's best of the season (but admittedly that's not saying much)

 

Thought the ref was terrible. Last thing the games need is a fussy idiot on a pitch where players are going to find it hard to stay balanced. Typical was the sending off - he marches around for 20s making the so called big decision. Get the red straight out of your pocket and send him off, instead of trying to be part of the play!!

Thought both sides were good, but we were better. Well done to McCall for obviously demanding that we start the second half on the front foot and we should have had three goals

I thought Donaldson's hold up play and sheer menace, never allowed them to settle - couldn't care less how many he misses, when he plays like that he's vital to our chances

Thought Radio Leeds United, were very harsh in their criticism about our play for 10 minutes. Yes they scored against 9 men in their only chance in that spell - they had nothing to lose and played that way in the second half. My only moan is that we should have converted some of those chances in the early part of the second half

 

He's always like that. Quite liked his foul against Reeves when he was the one with the ball and wasn't actually making a tackle.

 

We've had a lot of shite over the last 10-15 years granted. And we've probably had others who've been as bad. But who's been worse? In possession he's awkward, hes not quick, doesn't get forward and cant cross a ball, he backs off and gives the opposition space, he doesnt really get stuck in. What does he do? Some half arsed long throws and he's tall? That's about it. He's one of many that need replacing.

Henley's worse though.
