I read the formation as 4-3-3 McCartan playing an attacking midfield role.

 

Wow what a bench. Is he hoping the pitch is going to dry out to Brazil like standards in the second half?

 

Think we must be nearing how Stuart understands his players attributes and how they understand what he is after. This is just the game to test what positive impact he has had on the squad in the short time he has spent with them. Doubt he can really get much more from them.

 

On the bench at least so may get to show what he can do

We’ve said it before kick off that Akpan is not the man we want in a scrap, on heavy ground or actually in any circumstances. He’ll be off even earlier today with conditions heavy.

I'm presuming the state of the pitch is why Middleton isn't in the squad at all? But then again, Connelly starts, and Zeli and Pritchard are on the bench. As is DMH.
