Home v Plymouth Feb 29th

Had £20 quid on City to win and both teams to score at 4 to 1. As soon as the City defender backed off I knew they'd score. Worrying how it seems to have become a habit. Needs addressing ASAP. Other than that we should have scored five at least. Strange game in the sense that we won but by default. £100 quid in the back bin though.

Strangest game I've seen for a long time. Should have been 6 or 7 yet we end up conceding against 9 men. A welcome three points but christ we made hard work of it. The pitch and conditions were a great leveller, Plymouth never really got to grips with the playing surface, constantly overplaying. The sending off killed their chances. Connolly man of the match by a country mile.

 

Can't remember him being on bar the bad misses.

 

Oh yeah he wasn't the worst today by any means.

 

I thought that Connolly had pace and effort but never any end product. I apologise to him after his strike for the winning goal today. It capped a very good performance. I thought Reeves and Wood also played well.
Akpan was awful again. I do hope Cooke comes back into the side in his place.

 

thought Reeves put a shift in and Novak getting unfair stick. Connolly definitely match winner.

 

Still in reach of the playoffs anyway. Not sure we deserve to be really.

Cooke wasn't fit enough to start and Akpan is the least shite of the rest. Not really sure what the alternative was.

 

Didn't think Reeves had a good game. Did his usual sloppy tackling from behind which always results in a foul/booking. A few misplaced passes, and a few times caught in position.
HOWEVER, considering he was the only midfielder in the centre of the park, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Doing the work of two men is always tough.
Now that Cooke is back, surely it's time to drop Akpan.

 

Putting last Saturday in perspective,Newport have conceded 9 goals in the two matches they have played since then.

Got £20 on Liverpool to win both halves v Watford for £75. Not looking good so far.

 

Thought Novak was poor. Reeves had a good game and that pitch suited BRE.

 

Novak should have buried his one on one but he wasn't poor. Adequate probably.

 

Not questioning the sending off mate, just making a general comment with regards Mr Boyeson he likes his bookings and sending players off, like to see them both again to be honest, the second looked harsh, but it looked a stupid challenge on a player Plymouth couldn't control today without fouling the lad.

 

Good win - any win is good tho!

To be honest, our strikers have had zero chances all season, its going to take a few weeks for them to work out what to do with the ball when they're in the oppo's area!

Disagree, Reeves tidied up so many times, at one point only Reeves and Connolly were performing, it was that strange of a game.
