I never said that, TGM ………. I said the 'team' - As in team sheet. I didn't know WHAT formation was going to be used at that point. Other than that - I agree with you, and how it panned out, and should have been played. :)

I didn't post that you said it, I'm pointing out in the Macclesfield game the referee deemed it was neither violent or a red with regards Rule 12, I'm agreeing with you.

Yes I agree, this law should protect goalkeepers who make the slightest mistake, who are unlucky to have committed the foul.

As I say, this new rewording would encourage a coach to train their keepers to make absolutely sure they wipe the player out whether they get the ball or not. The ball becomes secondary the minute you suggest you won't send them off for fouling the player under certain circumstances.

Keep reading we will get found out and can’t keep scraping wins and it not catch up with us?
Yet here we are two weeks into December and with a game in hand we are only a point off of getting into
    Top 3.

We spent many years in this league the last time we were here and we know the league is a slog. We are not gonna play teams off of the park. It was dire under parky at times but it’s just about getting out of this league.
Good players missing for a good chunk of season so far but they are nearly all back now apart from Donaldson. Nearly at January and hopefully a chance to strengthen.

we’ve beaten some good teams at home. Keep our home record going and we will be well up there

We didn't play 5 at the back but without going through the thread I assume this has been discussed.

I'm not unhappy at being joint 5th. I'm not ecstatic about the football but I'm happy where we are.

It’s certainly not entertaining, but I’d be worried if we were getting out played, that’s a sign that you’re getting lucky. Other than Crewe this season and probably Plymouth although that was our own doing, we’ve always looked the more likely team to win. The only 2 teams I’ve thought looked half decent this season were Crewe and Exeter, and we beat Exeter without them providing a threat.

I’m confident once injuries clear up we’ll be fine, and hopefully the entertainment will increase.

Nail on head, Devitt to come back into the squad too. Strong options towards the back end of the season...

Actually forgot about Devitt. Our midfield is up there with the strongest in this league. That and our CB’s too I think. Not many with better than us.

That’s our strength and can see why we are not the most free flowing attacking side. But we are doing enough and look a tough side to beat. All you need at this level.

I relate this to what How said about waiting to get found out by the divisions so called decent teams like what happened when we dropped out of the playoffs after McCalls sacking when in truth we never looked good enough for the playoffs.
This time its different, in this division there are no decent sides, after 20 or so games we've seen nearly all the teams in the division and from my point of view i've only seen one decent side and that was Crewe. Personally i don't think the standard of football will improve but thats a division wide thing, its just the same as it was the last time we were in this division, generally the skill levels are very poor and as such it won't take much to get automatic promotion. The team that shows more consistency in terms of results will go up.

A good point in playing to our strengths. We're not a free flowing side, its something we shouldn't really expect in league 2. We weren't wen't we got promotion under Parky. Problem with that is when you come up against a piss poor outfit like Newport. And they were only three points behind us before Saturdays game.

Newport weren't piss poor, but I wouldn't put any of their players in our first xi.

They were abysmal, easily one of the worst sides to come to VP in years. Didn't have a single thing going for them in any department.

They're not even the worst side to come to VP this season.

    In my opinion, Oldham.

Can't agree with that, Oldham posed us problems as an attacking threat. I've seen us play non league sides in the cup who offered more of a goal threat than Newport. One of the most negative displays of football i've seen for a long time, they made no attempt to get the ball down on a decent surface.

Totally agree, my sentiments exactly, born out by the fact that all the league defeats this season have been by one goal, I don't recall any team totally outplaying BCFC that I have seen home or away. Come January 4th the Doyle situation will be resolved one way or the other coupled with the likes of Donaldson & others back from injury.

My view is when the BCFC squad is near to full strength they are more than capable of raising the playing bar and compete for a top three place in a division that appears to be there for the taking.:)

But on the other hand, Newport were organised and hard to break down.

Oldham, after the first 20 minutes when they did indeed pose an attacking threat, didn't look like they knew what they were doing. They didn't seem to understand their own tactics, and it's notable that the players that performed better going forward but offered nothing defensively were dropped when Dino Maamria took over.

It's one thing to have a few tricks, but it doesn't make a side 'better' than a team like Newport.

Newport didn't have to be organised, we didn't turn up until they gifted us a penalty. Up until then neither team posed any sort of threat of a goal. Its games like that that make me despise lower league football. A team of hoofball cloggers against a team set up with no attacking threat.
