Bowyers post match interview on radio Leeds: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07x7crn

    And the Sky video https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/competitions/league-two/11880948/bradford-1-0-newport

How that new rule can be bring any sort of positivity to the game is beyond me, Townsend clearly brings Vaughan down as he goes past him to put the ball into an empty net, by the new law it is deemed unfair to send the keeper off, yet Vaughan has to score to give that new rule have any credibility, from a situation of tapping the ball into an empty net to having to score a penalty to get the same result how is that helping the attacking team it's giving the defending team the advantage, the games gone mad.

    Newport were poor!
    Bradford were poor!

I thought Reeves was ok, i thought AOC and POC were ok!

I wouldn't say Reeves was head and shoulders above everyone. I thought he was busier than everyone for sure but dropped far too deep in the 1st half and mostly past it sides.

However, it's good to have him back and he will get better.

Spot on. Sure I recall some posting they'd be happy if we were mid table this first season in L2?

No being a yes man doesn't give you more credibility. This is why you get nowhere!

Auto correction on the other question.

And as I say AOC and POC have to take some credit also.

Newport were poor though, as were we overall!

We move on with 3 points to next Saturday!

Always been a problem on this board. People set up a hypothesis, get it wrong, refuse to accept they were wrong and then start talking bollocks.

What would you give him out of ten just out of interest on yesterday's performance?

Agree Dave plus it allows the goalkeeper to stay on the pitch to then make fantastic saves to deny us another goal. The sub keeper may not have made them.

I would of given him 6.5/7 out of 10.. ok/decent.. not outstanding.. not world class .. ok/decent

Positive- it's his second main match back and can improve.

In these circumstances, it all hinges on whether the ref deems the challenge for the ball as ‘genuine’ or the foul is ‘accidental’.

They’re still supposed to send off where - in denying the goal scoring opportunity - there was no possibility to play the ball, pulling, pushing, holding etc (plus handball). Plus, all instances outside the area.

So the ref yesterday has decided either (i) the keeper actually hasn’t denied an obvious goalscoring opportunity or (ii) he did, but it was a genuine attempt for the ball.

I’m struggling with either of those TBH, given the keeper seemed to grab around Vaughan’s waist (so not really a genuine attempt for the ball IMO) and looks like he would still have been in control of the ball (to put into the net, albeit defenders were nearby-ish). Personally, I think the ref should still have sent him off under the laws. I reckon though the ref has decided the keeper’s challenge was a ‘genuine’ one.

I sort of understand the amendment to the law - where they felt a red card as well as a pen (i.e. very likely a goal) for a genuine attempt to play the ball in the box was too harsh. The change was made to try and differentiate between that genuine attempt and a deliberate foul.

I just seems double jeopardy for the attacking side, Vaughan is clearly through on goal and the keeper as you say goes for Vaughan it's not even debatable he catches Vaughan on his thigh, https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/competitions/league-two/11880948/bradford-1-0-newport 55 seconds in, there was no way either defender could have got back on the line to save the shot, once again the advantage is taken from the attacking side, with the possibility Vaughan misses or the keeper saves the penalty.

First half was best of the season. I fell asleep and dreamt of Stamford Bridge. Then the cold woke me up and I wondered what am doing here?
