If as with Vaughan he said he would not play again under Adams I'd suggest that's very relevant, we're without one of our better CD for the rest of the season regardless he might have caused disruption withing the squad, he didn't want to play we got a fee, that alone says it was the correct decition.

I think it was McCall. Vaughan was long gone when Adams joined?

Then what was the panic Bronco when it was thought Paudie was going to miss 3 Games? A recurrence or injury will see us struggle with a decent central defensive partnership - though to be fair we have been lacking that all season.

Yes I was quoting what happened with regards Vaughans comments to Stuart saying he would not play for the club again, Canvan's was because he would not work under Adams where as Vaughan didn't want to travel to Rawdon Meadows daily, but Vaughan conveniently forgot that's exactly what he accepted when he signed his very lucrative
    contract with Bradford City.

But the CD positions were one area we thought was one of our strongest areas O'Connor, Cavavan, Kelleher, Fouls, Staunton, Songo at a push

Much as I dislike Adams, to me this incident says as much about Canavan's character as it does Adams'

It tells me more about where our priorities lie as a club.

"Not accepting mediocrity" obviously relates more to the club's bank balance than achieving anything.

The majority on here thought at the time Adams was wrong to quote names as he did, we know footballers and their contracts only seem to be abided by when it suits them.
I can understand Nails comments do he accept the public humiliation and keep his head down or bring the situation to an end.
When I was part of a management team I would not have expect my manager to name me during a briefing when something went wrong, if he did I would possibly be looking for another position else where asap, although FCD and Canavan were directly responsible for the goals the other 9 were not without blame for the display/ result.

There hasnt been one player at this club that has performed this season. Guess what? The players we have aren't as bad as the performances suggest. No one even mentioned it would be good for Canavan to leave before he left despite some poor individual performances from him. And I cannot agree with you that allowing our captain to leave for what can only be described as a token gesture money wise whilst not having any replacement just shows how badly run this football club currently is. Then to have to take out only central defensive midfielder and stick him in defense just compounds the matter. That's not to say there isn't a player at the club that can't be replaced, we are in league 2 after all. But the timing of the move coming after he and Adams could not come to agreement after a fall out is just another cockup to add to all the other cockups we've seen in the last 4 or 5 years.

I don't disagree with any of that.
I stated that Adams was wrong to name individuals. However, I see that FCD has stayed to prove himself (although that may be more to do with not being able to sort anything within the timescale). I expected more from Canavan. I also expected more from him as a player - he looked to be cruising and disinterested for weeks, so maybe he found his excuse to go. As an aside I think "public humiliation" is a bit strong!

Given number of set pieces, crosses we have conceded from from headers i would have said the cd was one area we needed to change

We'll have to agree to disagree with regards my comment "public Humiliation" but to quote names on a radio post match interview doesn't get any more public than that IMO.
Have a listen 45seconds in he names both FCD and Canavan, https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0bl2xls
FCD has his whole career in front of him, a young kid maybe he was a little intimidated and possibly frightened of approaching a man like Adams, without doubt Canavan after a good start to the season his performances got worse, some saying he had a bigger turning cycle than an oil tanker, and even for a big unit and 6'4" he was not as commanding in the air to the latter end.

I don’t blame Canavan that much tbh.

Imagine being hung out to dry week in week out by a manager who would instruct his team to sit back on narrow leads or whilst the team is drawing for up to 75% of the game at times.

As we all know, most of the time we’d go on to concede an draw or even lose games because of this tactic. The players, alongside the manager would take the blame for it, therefore knocking confidence which was very evident in some players, Canavan comes to mind.

An after all of this, the manager has the nerve to throw the players under the bus for the tactics he selects which ultimately costs us games. Now if you were to be in that situation, im sure you’d want to leave the club as well

Excellent post Roger. Our recruitment this year has been abysmal. The ones that might be good enough are in and out of sick bay. Mostly in never to be seen again. We signed a player in January and he has yet to put an appearance in. In my view what is the point of signing injured players or injury prone players. This is wasting the clubs resources. This is season ticket money, yours and mine!

Some might argue although we have concede from both corners/set pieces etc were our keepers as commanding as they should have been, not many have defended either keeper this season, we certainly don't seem have that aerial domination for two recognised CD at 6'4" and the other 6'3"

Maybe the lad we got from Luton was fit but not quite ready to play 90 minutes football, then surprise surprise he has hamstring problems and we've seen nothing of him since his signing.

Meanwhile in a parallel universe, City have now on 96 points having won all their games, and by an amazing score of five clear goals.
