I think his comment was more about FGR than us which I am not sure about because despite their terrible attitude they play decent football which surprised me

 

We might still go up this season but the damage was done by the last manager and CEO. It gives the current set up a get out of jail free card but next season that doesn't exist. In the likely scenario we are still in this division then next season we should be aiming to go up as champions l.

 

Same system though isn’t it, just with Donaldson at 10 instead of Cooke? Donaldson seems to play higher than Cooke, I think instinctively because he’s a striker whereas Cooke is a midfielder. I have to confess, Donaldson has been excellent in the last 2 games. And his long throw is an important weapon.

 

I thought they played well in parts but miss some real chances.

Where I do agree with their manager is that we took our chances (when have we ever really said that before!!)

The reason we won is because we kept scoring and setting back their confidence and the weight of goals killed them.

It wasn't because we controlled the midfield and outpassed them (because they had more possession and better passing accuracy) and it wasn't because we were constantly attacking and they couldn't get out of their half because often they had a couple of passes down the sides and they were on the edge of our box. It was because we took our chances.

On another day Watt could have hit his shot into someone or high over the bar (like his second easier chance) and Cook's heavy touch after his header could have been picked up or kicked if the keeper hadn't stayed on his line. Anyway, none of that happened and quite frankly it was enjoyable to beat that bunch of moaning, complaining, constantly falling over little feckers.

 

Mate, I would love to be wrong. Love too!

However, I just don't see it. I don't believe we are good enough and many of you agree but just don't admit it deep down.

Even if we did get into the play offs I feel we will lose. We lack quality mate and even yesterday Young from FGR stood out even though we were the better side.

It's a poor league but we are 3-4 quality players short or where we need to be.

I think one of Vernham or Crankshaw would be helpful in that "3". Without one of them we don't really have any pace to break up the field. We would be an even bigger threat from opponents free kicks and corners with one of them in. Often when we won the ball and started breaking someone had to turn around in the midfield and wait for others to catch up which was a shame.

Challenge is, Evans has shown he has set piece quality and Donaldson has been playing well and his long throw is another weapon but we will need to rotate still a little.

I'm going to praise T&S for thinking outside the box a little and trying to change things. I guess they asked Evans to take over set pieces and who knew Clayton had a long throw?? Fair play to them.

 

At his age leading the line on his own was always going to take a lot out of him. The breather he has had since January seems to have done him good and the role he is now being used in also seems to suit him. At least this role should enable him to go out with his head held high come the end of the season.

 

Not at all Wilsden, I am positive and was before yesterday. My comments, however, mirror the rest of the Club representative's. Did you listen to Conor on Radio Leeds after the match?, did you read his other comments in the press today, e.g. Yorkshire Post?, have you heard Ryan Sparks?, all those and more refuse to discuss promotion, play offs, etc and confine themselves to achieving safety and then taking things as they come.
Behind these comments lies a lot of positivity but we lost 3 away games on the trot which hurt us and Conor swerved any talk of anything other than Stevenage being a very hard game.
Note one other point. When I said I was expecting my vegan pie next season did I say it would be in L2?

 

100% agree with all this.

If we don't go up then we have to be aiming to go up as champions or automatically at least. No excuses.

I said we should have got rid of McCall in the summer as that fans forum was a joke and I would have sacked him just on that. As for the old CEO as much I have question marks over Sparks I am so glad hes gone. Talk about holding the club back.

 

To be honest I'm not sure what it is but it works, probably better than anything else we've done before. Donaldson has made the difference. We just look solid without being spectacular. Probably like most of the division. Had to try something because we looked out of ideas.

 

For what it's worth Fordy I also don't think we'll go up but I never give up on anything until fat lady has cleared her throat (can I say that in these present times?).

 

Well we aren’t both going up unless they start promoting two out of the playoffs, I’m confident of that. I’d happily take these in the playoffs. If they hadn’t cheated and got Paudie sent off at their place we’d have done the double over them. The thought of a Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday sounds a lot more enticing than a vegan roll to me

 

Looks like a more pragmatic approach more akin to what Parky used to do and to be fair it has worked. Dropping Watt was another good decision as he seemed to have his spark back yesterday. I think it's like all league 2 teams, if you can get at the centre backs most are painfully slow and quite ponderous, ours included to be fair. Yesterday being more direct allowed this to happen.

 

There isn't one team in this division you wouldn't want in the playoffs, us included. It's not like when we were in league 1 with the likes of Millwall and Sheffield Utds of this world when you knew there were some class teams around. This division is truly rubbish there isn't one stand out side in it.

 

It was more because we defended better than them which has been the case for most of the matches under T&S yes I am sure they would like more midfield control but they are getting the best out of what they have got solid defending yet still creating chances.using quick breakaways. Where we struggle is when we are under pressure we give the ball away to easily with sloppy passing it drives me mad

 

Agree in the main, although I wouldn’t want Bolton personally.

 

The team I would least like to meet in the play offs if we get there is Exeter I think their forward line is one of the most effective in this league

 

I keep talking about quality and how we lack it.

Cambridge sign Hoolahan and now top of the league. Mullin is now producing like never before.

However, I want to face these in the play offs if we get there because I believe for us it would be better if Cheltenham, Tranmere and Bolton go up automatically because it gives us more chance next season if we don't go up this.

Plus Cambridge will be in a bad place if they don't go up automatically now and @CambridgeSean will understand you won't want to be playing the 7th team in the play offs if your club had failed to held their nerve at the business end of the season.

Bolton, Tranmere or Cheltenham would beat us over two legs.

 

Bolton might but not the other two we have beaten Tranmere already
