    My family background is exactly the same as yours. My dad's mum and dad born and bred in Bradford, my other gran the daughter of Irish Immigrants and my other grandad came over from Kilkenny in 1922 looking for work.
    If the Royal family don't know you or your family how can they possibly have a view on you, positive or negative.

    I totally agree with the thread regards "Harry and Meghan" . They wanted out because of lack of privacy and press intrusion. Yet now they will talk to anyone who will listen. Strange.

    They do generate way more money for the country than they cost and outside the direct people they employ there is even more secondary jobs they generate. We are one of the few countries with anything approaching a traditional monarchy so it’s a major draw that would start to diminish if we scrapped them

    I think it’s mainly her tbh. She is a typical talentless z list celeb media whore. She can’t live without media attention but only wants the attention the way she wants it.

    With him I’m pretty sure he would like privacy, before meeting her he supposedly told multiple people he would like to just disappear to live a simpler life in Africa away from the press. IMHO though he is compromising his desires to keep her happy so has ended up in perhaps the one place in the world where he will get more attention than in the UK

    The Japs and the Yanks love the Royal Family. Nice little earner. Don't care much for them -the Royal Family that is-but they do bring in a lot of tourist money.

    It's not strange. It's about control. They want to be able to choose and monetise their public appearances and control the information that the public has about them.
    But modern celebrity doesn't work like that. If you put yourself in the public eye then your past and your private interactions become of interest to many people and therefore sell papers and boost viewing figures. So the media will do what it can to scrape beneath the surface cosmetics and get to the stuff beneath. Actually, that's not just modern celebrity - it's always been like that, but modern technology provides greater opportunities and more hostages to fortune.

    Just confirmed to the press he was ok and was in for
    "Observation and rest"
    Nothing against the guy he is nearly 100 after all
    But it's one rule for the privileged and another for us
    Which is drastically wrong

    Sounds like they are going to drop a bomb shell interview on March the 7th with Oprah. Again, for a couple that wanted privacy it's a strange way of doing it.

    Not quite, The Royal Brompton is not a NHS hospital and not covered by the same rules, It is a private hospital with the royal warrant used by the Royal family for that reason,
