Which of these mythical teams would that be? Seems silly for a club to leave the stadium half empty when the demand is there from another club to fill it.

all of the above have taken over our home stands in the past because we couldn’t fill the stadium.

 

Oh so we did accommodate them then unlike Harrogate are doing hence why people are talking about going in a half empty home end?

Plus non of them are in this division, if we were in the same league as Leeds there wouldn’t be a single seat available for away fans. Don’t talk nonsense.

 

Can’t ever remember Town doing that, in fact they often returned unsold tickets.

Yes if Harrogate wanted the extra income they could give us more tickets.
They obviously don’t need it and don’t want our fans in their home seats so any talk of trying to get into their home areas is out of order.

 

If you meet their requirements and pay the entrance fee is it bollocks, I’m sure there are fans up and down the country who have sat in the opposite end before. There is no law stating you must support the team who’s end you sit in.

 

Agreed but Harrogate obviously don’t want it to happen and so it’s their right to make it difficult.

 

I agree a club can do as they see fit, but so can a fam if they purchase a ticket within the law.

Soon enough they’ll be back down in the National league north getting away followings of 30 and wishing for such crowds but you get what you deserve when you cut off your nose to spite your face.

 

I feel like it must come down to the police - it’s already odd to me that it has to be a 1pm kick off when the chance of trouble seems low (unless I’m missing something)

I wouldn’t be surprised if the police have said for 600 away fans their costs are £x but 1200 away fans would be £3 or 4x so it’s not worth it from a financial point of view for Harrogate

 

It's happened since the dawn of time. If you're not a complete bellend then I'm sure you can put up with a few opposition supporters enjoying the game near you.

At the end of the day, if your teams winning then you wouldn't actually give two schits anyway.

 

We once gave Town the whole Midland road aswell as the Bradford End. I remember it as I had to move over to the main stand and endure a few Town mates claiming they were taking over our stadium.

Turned out completely pointless mind as they still only brought around 3500 and could have almost been accommodated in the usual two areas.

There’s a world of difference between a handful of well behaved fans sitting quietly in the home stands and allowing pissed up idiots unrestricted access to home areas.
Harrogate are doing the right thing.

 

These threads will disappear hopefully this season once we get out of Division Two.

 

If and when we get out of the division, there will be more demand for away tickets following a promotion and what are in theory bigger away days.
It’ll no doubt just be the same problem!

Who mentioned pissed up idiots misbehaving. Only you in this instance. It’s common practice and has been for years and years and years. As long as people behave it’s not an issue. Better than a 1/2 empty stadium.

 

Interest will wane, but I do think there will be a few National League grounds where we test the capacity.
