Not a vintage performance by any means but a wins a win and how times over recent years have seemed high flying teams turn up to VP and not looked great by any means but did enough in the match to take away the 3 points. We do seem to have another gear or 2 within us so hopefully we're saving that for the business end. I'd also add I think Walkers return is going to be huge as he's a natural number 10 with midfield qualities we currently clearly lack, Chapman and co are just about dragging us through at the moment but he is hugely better out wide as it showed when he won us the pen today.

 

The way we play out from dead balls puts us at a disadvantage. While we may lose it in a dangerous position that is not all the problem. Our whole midfield drops to make itself available which puts us at a severe disadvantage as teams can virtually blockade us in our half as demonstrated today. More and more teams will know this and use it against us. Time for more variety

I'm not sure at 32 in October Cook is going to change his game, Hughes knows what Cook offers given service he's not going to drop the Leagues second highest goal scorer, I can't agree with your highlighted he let's the defender win the ball, in the Wimbledon game he had his shirt ripped off his back by their CB trying to win headers with his back to goal.
Oliver wasn't brought on until the 79 minute and we were already 2 - 1 up, I'll agree Angol makes a difference he is a very good technical player and IMO he was wasted where Hughes has been playing him, he looks a different player playing inside.
It wasn't Cooks best game he wasn't alone but after we scored we looked like we'd taken our foot of the gas allowing Harrogate chance to get back in the game.

 

A couple of things to keep in mind
1. We're still very much a work progress at the moment. The good news is that there's potentially much more to come from this team. The even better news is that we're not playing at our best but winning games.
2. Our loan signings aren't the finished article. If they were - they wouldn't be playing for us. They're on loan to get experience and knock the rough edges off their game. Dion will 'grow' with us this season. I'm absolutely sure that MH and the coaching staff are working with him and the other loanees to sharpen their skills.

 

Move chapman to the right wing and sadly because I expected a lot leave Dion out

 

When the season started we said we'd have a better idea going forward after 10 games we've played 11 and so far Sparkie's got more right than wrong.

It's happened since the dawn of time. If you're not a complete bellend then I'm sure you can put up with a few opposition supporters enjoying the game near you.

At the end of the day, if your teams winning then you wouldn't actually give two schits anyway.

 

They will literally be no trouble, we aren't going to Millwall ffs. I doubt many fancy a ruck at Harrogate before tea and cakes at bettys to round off the day.

 

It's OK, we don't hold it against you

 

In the return match, don't give Harrogate any tickets. We can manage without the income.

It's worrying because too many of our performances are like this. Knocking it about but without any real intent, and lazy out of possession. Crichlow is a good example - he just wants to have the ball in acres of space. Ask him to win a header and he doesn't want to know.

 

Great three points. Bang average performance. Up the league we go.

 

Thankfully he seems to with his subs, Harrogate, Wimbledon and Tranmere the subs have all made the difference. But yes those on the pitch need to keep up the intensity.

 

7 games unbeaten and not playing that brilliantly if we are being honest yet we are sitting pretty in the league table.

I feel the strength in depth of the squad is going to be the difference this season.
