When reeves was signed by stuart he started off well, always looking forward and had good link up with the likes of Law. Injury ruined him after that and Bowyer has started to ruin him again. Busy is probably the best word to describe him but I think that sort of player is useful for Stuart. And yes, he doesn't tackle much but none of our CMs can (apart from maybe cooke) but in a team who will have much more of the ball, theres less need for a ball winner.

I think Guthrie will be on the bench Sat'dy,can't see
Stuart putting him ahead of Novak at this stage.

No doubt sub Donaldson for Guthrie last 15 minutes.

Stuart said he didn't really know him in his interview, so totally agree.

Sure he'll get a chance though.

So Cooke and Devitt makes sense then.

Cooke is a better passer and tackler.

Look, who ever McCall picks I am fine with, Hopefully, all the players will step up now.

Think this is one of the general challenges we’ve had since Stuart was last here, in that we are a very static team. Whether that’s down to fitness, player choice or ability, we don’t move. Law was incredibly underrated what he brought to a team and we’ve never really replaced his style of play. Perhaps Devitt is that player from a more central position, think Pritchard can also do a similar job.

I hope Stuart’s general approach to a more attacking and advance style of play will get us moving more and allow players such as Reeves the opportunity to show the ability he has. That said, agree that he’s poor in the tackle.

Reeves plays football like a crab. People say he has this ability. What is it? Running side to side? Making the simple 5 yard pass? Palmer didn't even move.

Think you're right about Law and it's no shock he's doing extremely well at this level.

Cooke and Devitt for me have the movement, I would pair them together if we don't play with a DM.

Harry Pritchard is a funny one... i like him but we haven't seen enough of him so not got a clue really his best position.

Think we have far too many players and not all too same.

Akpan us our best DM for me still. If we are looking for a DM the use him and let Devitt or Cooke to get forward.

Bowyer made an unbalanced team more unbalanced

If you are going to play Akpan at all it should be more of an attacking role he is better when he gets forward. Of the players we have Cooke is the one best placed for that defensive midfield position

See I don't disagree with that mate.

Think Cooke & Apkan can form a good partnership and if it means Cooke sitting with Akpan going forward then that works.

It will be interesting to see who McCall picks for me I am not into this Reeves love in at all. For too many excuses for his poor play. Doesn't tackle, doesn't run with the ball, no long rang passin and makes us more negative as a team.Think Bowyer was getting fed up of him also. Hopefully, McCall and Black can get these players buzzing again.

But that's not how he was playing when he first came into the team under Stuart, before his injury started affecting his performance. He was passing forward, linking play with others who offered him options ahead, unlike Bowyer's set-up.
He also got forward more. I recall one game where he delivered a brilliant cross over his shoulder from the left side of the byeline for (I think) Wyke to score.

The first time I saw him play was the first game of the season away at Gillingham where I thought we have a real player here - he was everywhere and to good effect. In the same game Poleon missed a sitter, the first of many, and we were lucky to win in the end.

I seem to remember him playing in a pre-season game against Newcastle and looking like our best player by a country mile.

Completely agree. Clean slate for everybody, so any selection is fine by me.

    Apart from Adam Henley, obviously.

I think he is playing for time. Seemed like he wanted out. Which is fine but I haven't seen this player you mention for over 2 years and when he came back he played ok for 2 games then now nothing like the kind of player you said he was.

Think for me Cooke and Devitt are better all round players.

Can't have players that don't tackle at this level.

Does make you wonder if Boryer was feeling the heat and thought I will get my mate Taylor a new contract.

The Taylor signing makes no sense. Don't get why we offered Anderson and Devine new contracts when we were always going to sign Taylor at some stage.

Absolutely, Taylor is his mate and that's the only reason he signed him.
