Unless he is willing to sign an extension we should sell him. For whatever reason he just hasn’t clicked with all the fans, might just be his demeanour but he rarely smiles and doesn’t come across as being happy here.

 

We have very little choice as our support of Bradford City is a life time commitment, when we see commitment from the owners it will be easier for us fans to "believe" as we were asked several weeks ago.
I think the majority of City fans were quite happy with last season because most things were delt with by the last owners, and the new owners weren't going to change things that had brought our club sucsess we were told.
They honoured the ticket price and although it was said why Phil Parkinson left once Stuart took the reins many were delighted, until the news got out they wanted to sack Stuart after the epic season we had, I'll bide my time before going overboard about what they intend to do then when I see its actions rather than comments they will get my full backing.

I wouldn’t take too much from the brief comment, my guess they have been talking for weeks.

 

I'm with @How, if Grayson doesn't sign now it's been a wasted 3 months, I'm not sure I would have given the job to Abbo but whoever it had been we would have been 3 months further down the road of what is needed as a club going forward.
Of course the other option would have been to keep McCall and hoped he could kick start the season knowing he would be gone in summer, because IMO that was the only reason for bringing Grayson in and it didn't work unfortunately.

I'm sure he did, but heart over matter as it turned out , basically Head of Coaching, with input along with Abbo on recruitment...Not totally the free hand he would have liked.But he went along with it out of love for the Club and love for the job.

 

Agree he sounds like he is staying but surely he must know by now
Mixed feelings about it really would be happier if he signed a longer contract initially
Hope he is better than his last results and style of play
Sounds to have a big ego and can see plenty of clashes with the powers that be
He can talk the talk let's see if he has enough in his locker to back it up

I've said that lots of different styles are successful. You've just named teams who are successful and play the style you like. It doesn't change the fact that there are other teams who don't fit your perception but still succeed in one way or another.

Fair comment, there are always times when you need to win ugly. Its hard not to sound like i'm having a go at Parky which isn't what i wanted it to come across as. He was the perfect fit for the club and the players he brought in bought into his ethos of hard work and attitude beats fancy football. He was proved right in the fact we progressed every year, whose to say we wouldn't have gone on another level if he had stayed. But it will never rate with me like the Terry Dolan team in 87/88 or Jewell's team in 98/99. I don't think i'll see us play football as good as that again, don't forget it was a higher level than we are currently at and the teams we were playing were better.

 

As for the title of the thread, i couldn't care less whether he stayed or went. If he wants to stay he'll do it for the right reasons, otherwise bugger off. There will be no shortage of applicants should he choose not to sign a new contract.

 

I always rated the 87/88 team as better than the 98/99 team because it had more flair. Some of the football that season was an absolute joy to watch, the team would win conceding 3 goals and never stopped playing attractive football.

Jewell's team was slightly more orthodox, more solid. Dolan's team would (imo) have coped better with the Premier League.

End of a disappointing season of subterfuge and innuendos, and now, at least, we can rekindle optimism in a new beginning. Hopefully, a new approach and a fresh strategy to move us on through pre-season and into next.

 

Sheffield United spent 6 seasons in League 1 finishing in 3rd, 5th, 7th, 5th, and 11th before finally winning the league last year. I'd take finishing 11th this year and coming first next year.

 

Where your point falls down is Grayson knew what he was coming into regards city as the transfer window had already closed so that was his choice.
He came to city to put his face back out there if things had gone well and we had scraped into a play off place he would be hoping for a Championship club to come and get him.

 

Agree as the majority did at the time on C&B, players over achieving, then when Grayson doesn't get the new manager bounce (that the owners expected) as did we fans it's as you say the players faults.
