I don't think it necessarily comes across as top harsh on Parky at all. Just think it is a little reminder that we dont necessarily have to crave 100% pretty football to be successful. Especially here.

You get people like Fordy who want to paint anybody who enjoys a gritty, battling team as a know-nothing footballing dinosaur who is condemning the club to failure.

When we're then discussing what Grayson could bring to the club we almost end up judging him on the wrong thing. His positives seem to be a record of success and an emphasis on character whereas the "negatives" seem to be that he doesn't play like Pep. To me, it seems like the first bits are much more important here than the second bit.

 

End of a disappointing season of subterfuge and innuendos, and now, at least, we can rekindle optimism in a new beginning. Hopefully, a new approach and a fresh strategy to move us on through pre-season and into next.

 

If it gets us out of this league I'll take that for a season, we were told by the Preston fans about his style but they also said he does the job, why would we want tippy tappy football with no end product, bring it on Grayson.

 

I disagree that Grayson's style of play is the death of football. Pretty it ain't I'll give you that but you cannot deny that he seems to have hit upon a formula that is highly successful at getting teams promoted out of this crappy league. Realistically, you are not going to get the kind of attractive football you want to see on a regular basis in League 1, given that the majority of players at this level are simply not up to it. Yes there are a few individual players that are capable of it and a even a couple of teams but they are the exception rather than the rule. I don't know if Grayson will stay or leave but if he does stay and is allowed to bring players in to build HIS team, I would happily endure a season of unattractive football if it gets us promoted. Lets worry about the pretty stuff when we go up.

 

A start would be an attack that takes it's chances and a defence that is frugal.

 

He won't get us promoted though.

He's finished as a decent manager and is just living on the past.

Nothing at Sunderland or Bradford highlights he has what it takes to take us forward. We're going backwards under him.

 

The words I heard during the last closed season with regards Edin was "a bull in a China shop" upsetting everyone including sponsors, a shame its taken Rupp to intervien and not "Mr I know football" to make his apologies, credit to you Stefan, now for some action.

 

There is more chance of Grayson getting us promoted than there is of you posting anything positive.

 

i highly disagree, i dont think there's anybody better we could have tried to get hold of. histoory of achievement, a point to prove after previous job didnt go well, good understanding of what makes a club like ours tick. not been great this season but Brian Clough actually managed derby to one place lower than his predecessor in his first season and that turned out okay. I bring up clough as ive just finished his autobiography where he spends best part of a chapter talking about how important it is managers get time to bring their own players in as its nigh impossible with somebody elsesteam.

 

Still proven in this division more than anyone else and although not the Messiah this season,he has yet to introduce his own players.

This year we were going backward with SM, SG put points on the board and started to steady the ship with the same players.

Would you rather play attractive stuff down the bottom of the table or be looking forward to promotion or the play offs?

 

Think I would rather an unproven manager at this stage that wants to play in the right way.

Lee Bower is doing better than Grayson currently and that's not his own players.

 

I would rather a long term plan and have an attacking style of play to go with that.

 

The McMahon situation will be very interesting, Grayson is no bodies fool the first chance he got he made McMahon Captain if he wants McMahon to stay as he obviously knows what he offers to the team and the dressing room.
McMahon is let's say not the flavour of the month as far as Edins concerned and he would be quite happy to let him leave (which still sticks in my throat as he had every chance in January when Scunthorpe made an offer) so if Grayson wants to keep him and McMahon wants to stay that for me would be a big plus and that the board have seen sense.

 

The top prem tams would like that, but its not easy, even difficult you might say.
In league 1 you grit you teeth and take what you can

 

He wants a 2 year contract and I doubt the board will offer him that

It's not a big plus mate.

We need full backs with a bit of speed.

We need to start developing this squad.
