I think he benefited from being a breath of exuberant fresh air in the worst period of form in a long, long time.

Next season, if we aren't the pits, he will find patience in short supply.

Of course, if he starts scoring, it's a different kettle of fish; but I've no doubt Grayson is well aware he needs better than Brunker, even if he could be fourth or fifth choice given his good attitude.

I don't want him to stay, I understand Tawheed's suggestion that SG staying is a postitive thing because the owners must have given him a budget that he feels would achieve (hopefully) promotion. Others have chosen to re-write history with selective results, when everybody bleedin knows from the Rupp comments on SmC's sacking that Grayson was brought in to ensure a top 6 finish. He failed, big time, but is blame free, pull the other one, and the football was absolutely garbage too.

I think Grayson represents the best option for us seeing a clearout of the dead wood players this summer. If he stays, will be interesting to see who he wants to bring in, or more to the point, who he is allowed to bring in. If he stays, I don't think Abbo will have as much influence, if he returns after illness

It's utter bollocks isn't it. Every style of football can work and some people just ignore the cases who go against their personal preference.

People complained like hell about the style of football under PP but it engaged with me much more than the slower style under McCall where the ball was often in neutral areas and therr were long periods with nothing to excite you. It's not right or wrong or good or bad though. The PP style of football has always seemed to get the atmosphere going at VP.

There are people who prefer the other style - as is their preference obviously - and they have a lot of the positive words that come along with that such as "pretty", "good" and "entertaining" but they're all subjective. It's easy to take the high ground though when you have those words on your side but it doesn't necessarily mean they're right.

I'm more than happy if we go along the down and dirty route rather then the nice and pretty one.

I disagree that Grayson's style of play is the death of football. Pretty it ain't I'll give you that but you cannot deny that he seems to have hit upon a formula that is highly successful at getting teams promoted out of this crappy league. Realistically, you are not going to get the kind of attractive football you want to see on a regular basis in League 1, given that the majority of players at this level are simply not up to it. Yes there are a few individual players that are capable of it and a even a couple of teams but they are the exception rather than the rule. I don't know if Grayson will stay or leave but if he does stay and is allowed to bring players in to build HIS team, I would happily endure a season of unattractive football if it gets us promoted. Lets worry about the pretty stuff when we go up.

With your permanent neg attitude you might need this number 116 123. Parky was finished when he failed at Hull & Charlton. Washed up. Gone. Out of football. That worked out ok didn't it.

If we were talking about appointing John Beck, or John Docherty (if he's still alive) or Peter Taylor I could understand but Grayson has had one spell at a complete basket case club that not even an (allegedly renowned) international manager could rescue and another spell at a club heading the same way run by a barm pot - which he's arrested and started to turn around. Our season was mortally damaged between losing at Wimbledon and Stuart going - 3 wins, 3 draws, 4 defeats in Grayson's last 10 compared to Stuarts last 10 of 2 wins, 8 defeats. He's hardly a long term failure.

His long term CV shows he not only gets clubs promoted but where given the chance, consolidates them in the league above. He's never taken a club up and been relegated the next season has he ? Give the bloke a chance, or has he slept with your wife ??

Unless the fans put their hands in their pockets. That is the alternative. But that will not happen. We do not have a mega wealthy fan that will pump good money after bad year on year so we have to live to a budget.

People just have to realise that.

Nobody makes money on football at this level, its not so much an investment, more of an expensive adults train set. If they were coming into this looking to make money every month they would have been better sticking their money in the bank.

Unless you're in the premier league it's very difficult for a football club to fund itself without it being successful. These owners came in with a plan and we were led to believe they were "investors" to my knowledge they've invested zero apart from money used to purchase the club. Why on earth would you buy a football club and run it worse than the previous owners who sold it because they didn' have the money to carry on the relative success it had achieved for 4 years? Success creates income and with their model you can't create success with a budget of peanuts. If they are that confident in their plan then fund a run to the championship take half the money back get to their goal of premier league in 7 years now 5 take all their money back and a nice bonus and we're all happy. But no they're trying to do it all without spending a penny

Andrew Pilley at Fleetwood has done a remarkable job imo. He has moved many of his other businesses which he owns to Highbury and they share many of the backroom services with the footballclub. He has reduced the overhead of running the club enormously. As you say, he had the foresight to invest in the future by building a great training facility to develop the future talent as part of the club's development. He's already said that he expects this to be the raison d'etre for the club and to regard it as long term investment. He was also willing to fund most of it from long term loans which might not go down too well with some Fleetwood supporters if they have the same mindset as some on here!

It's a very realistic vision if he can develop the youngsters as he expects to. And he certainly has a much better base on which to build than his competitors including ourselves. I wish we's had that kind of vision at VP over the years rather than expecting it to just happen or by running the club's infrastructure into the ground.

Like you, I'm hoping that we see some kind of statement of intent from the owners in the near future but I'm not feeling too confident about this. The 'lessons learned' piece would have been a good starting point but it really said nothing of significance. Maybe when Grayson or whoever is announced as the new manager will provide an opportunity for this but I'm not holding my breath!

Maybe you need to get your facts right rather than quoting things incorrectly .. as usual!

Get rid now the guys not a for this club
Yes there’s some hope he can replicate previous success but he’s in a downward spiral
If this was a player on the same downward curve making demands we would be all telling the chairman to stay clear

Best news for us if he gets his coat and fecks off

And so it should be. Fans are punters, not BCAFC employed business men.
WHY are we fans considered to be at the head of any food chain ?
WE will know, in due course - ONCE a decision has been made.

Think i'll be in a minority - but i actually quite like the potential of this set up. It'll take another 2 seasons to be properly up and running, but it should set us up for the medium / long term.
