If the figure of £300k to run the development squad is accurate that's probably 10-15% of our budget. Yes we have seen the likes of Robinson Patrick and Gibson (hopefully here next season) make the first team plus the likes of Gunner and Hawkes and others excepted to be close to the 1st team which is great but unless one is sold it isnt' a success. I presume once one is sold the money made that it will become self funded but until that happens can the club afford to keep putting money into something until they do get a return

 

I hope so. It’s a long term project not a quick fix

However any business has to listen to their customers and what their expectations are
If a customer does not like an account manager and will not be allocated a different one
They will vote with there feet as we have seen lately

 

But there's also players like Jeremie Milambo who we hear very little about but apparently attracting a lot of attention. I guess its not just the players we retain and bring through into the first team and sell, but also the young players we develop and sell before they ever make it to our first team.

 

That’s right it should be remembered that a big part of the budgets of recent years have come from youth sales in the past. Which just shows how it could help the club progress in the future

 

I agree but what i am saying is if you put money into bringing young players in the club unless we sell any it's not a success.

Think i'll be in a minority - but i actually quite like the potential of this set up. It'll take another 2 seasons to be properly up and running, but it should set us up for the medium / long term.

 

First of all I see what they are trying to do and it hopefully works but when do you stop reinvesting if you aren't making any money. Would it be a good idea to stop now and work with the ones we have and should any make us money then use that rather than taking money away from the 1st team again this coming season that's my point.

 

It is, which is why it needs separate funding, and allow the players to develop. Drip feeding them into the first as and when required.

 

I agree with that ........ Yet when I alluded to this LAST August, a few on C&B sneered at my suggestion, citing City only had 'one Budget'. Just a shame City can't attract a major sponsor - just for the development side of things. The exposure 'could' be fantastic ......... The BCAFC, 'ABC Co' development squad (Or reserves ?)
