I think Maltby was our home grown player on the bench today. If he had not been there, we would have had 6 on the bench, not 7.

Thought they were replacing divots because the squad had trained at VP this week.

 

I know its only 1 game, but he has already made a good impression with me. I would say with confidence, that if he had have been in charge a month earlier, we would be out of the bottom 4 now, with a good chance of staying up.

However, he has still given us a glimmer of hope, especially with the large number of teams involved in the struggle to stay up

 

There certainly are a large number of teams who could be involved in the relegation battle. Wycombe are 12th in the league yet are only 5 points clear of a relegation spot. That's any 4 of 13 teams who could go down. I'd say that was fairly unusual at this stage of the season. Just shows how compressed it all is.

I agree, I haven't worked out an estimate based on who plays who, but I think some teams will fall away.

If he somehow gets a win against Blackpool he averages 1.5 points per game, would we of took that? And wouls that be enough? Just trying to throw a positive scenario out there amongst the doom n gloom (me included)

 

To me Hopkin left because he doesn't think the club has hit rock bottom yet, he could have stayed around to try and get promotion from league 2 but chose to desert the sinking ship. If Bowyer didn't realise just how bad a squad he has inherited then he does now. Saturday reminded me of the Walsall game, a must win game in the circumstances but ultimately a pathetic performance. When the dust has settled on this season we will be able to look back and realise there was nothing that could be done with this patient, not by any manager. Sometimes the inevitable is staring us in the face, and when Rahic took weeks deciding a new coach then plumped for Collins the truth was slapping us across the face. To be fair to Collins, our predicament now should absolve him of much of the blame. Proven now no one could turn it around, the damage had been done way earlier than when Collins took the reigns.

 

With a lot of teams already in the early 40s points wise I'm afraid for us to stay up we will require about 52/53 to stay up.
