Well in League 2 guess what ? winding up; frustrating and kicking the opposition from here to kingdom come is exactly what will get you out of that God awful league !...unless you were on the Moon the last time we were mired down there you should know thats not the place you play "tika taka" football !

 

That may well be true. But being able to play 'tika - taka' is a great string to add to your bow.

 

That’s not exactly quite true. You don’t play Tikka Takka as that involves a higher quality player who commands a higher fee and wage. Therefore tikka takka doesn’t work as ordinarily you can’t afford the players to do it properly. Doesn’t mean it’s not the place to play it. Other styles of play can be far more effective with a cheaper player. Look at those teams who have tried to change their playing style and how successful they’ve then been. Stoke, West Brom etc. Takes time. However you can be aggressive and up and at them and still play tikka takka. They aren’t mutually exclusive. You are ultimately right though. We won’t have the budget to play tikka takka

Maybe so. But at the moment we are focused on trying to avoid dropping to L2. It's a very tall order but it is still possible. Bowyer has a track record of turning round troubled clubs and is a far better bet to help us beat the drop than Evans would have been. I see from today's T&A article that he has started going about doing that the right way.

And not every team in L2 plays neanderthal football. Parky's promotion-winning History Makers were undoubtedly direct, and tough at the back, but they weren't wind-up merchants and cheats like Evans's teams are. I don't want to support a team that takes professionalism beyond reasonable limits and is hated by fans of all other clubs, even if you do. As I've already said on here, if Evans were to be appointed I would buy my ST, to keep the seat I like, but I wouldn't attend until he was gone. Many others feel the same way so his appointment would massively split the fan base and lead to lower attendances. Thankfully it won't happen, certainly while JR is involved with the club.

I think what is really good and important is that Bowyer already knows a lot of the players. He's managed Paudie, Mellor, O'Connor and Akpan and he wanted to sign Payne, Doyle and Ball. Clearly, he knows their strengths and they all suit his playstyle which wasn't the case under Hopkin.

 

I like the fact that Bowyer has sat down individually with each player and
asked them about their feelings and grievances.If there is something that's
caused issues with the players it needs to be addressed and dealt with now.

 

I was hounded for not being optimistic enough when I mentioned the same point. We absolutely need stability.

I agree. We must have total agreement of a delivery path between all factions ie funding, budgets, growth plans and development, with the one aim to improve the status of the Club. Revenue streams must be prioritised and hitherto untapped commercial opportunities capitalised on through a concerted effort. One aim, one goal..to be the best we can.

What I liked is that he had Wright & Pauline O'Connor take part in the warm up.

Basically highlighting that they're close to getting in the squad.

Instead of having players sat at home at least players know that in the squad or not they've a massive part to play for this club.

I think a 2 year deal should be offered either way! At the end of the season. If he is backed even by ‘something realistic’ and can use the loan market well... he could be a fantastic manager for us. We need consistency.
