I want drury out as much if not more than doyle and akpan. Part of the staff for the worst team we've ever had, not single player has improved in any way under his coaching. Once those 3 go I think that's when we'll be truly fine.

He has had two unbeaten league matches with the beginnings of his own team to talk of sacking him now is utter tosh..ten games isn’t enough either providing results are not totally disastrous he needs at least until Christmas before we rip it all up and start again

There’s a lot of “ifs” there though and not a great deal of realism that any of your hopes will come to fruition.

Now that you mention staff, and the fact the budget does not extend to hiring an assistant and/or replacing Drury, it's mind-boggling that people rattle on about us extending contracts for Anderson & Devine when it's so bleeding obvious that they are the Drury's of the playing staff.

The budget was limited to £1m for all additional players, the likes of Vaughan and Donaldson won't be cheap, but Anderson & Devine will be.

The fact is, before the McBurnie sale and even potentially AFTER the McBurnie sale, there isn't money for real first team quality - when the competition is Hope Akpan, it's hard to argue that Anderson, as poor as he is, is worse than that catastrophic waste of time & space.

Having strengthened the woefully inadequate defence of last season, and splashed out on quality forwards, the idea that we would sign players much better than Anderson and Devine without paying far more is a fantasy. And if we couldn't AFFORD to pay far more, then it's pretty obvious why he extended both.

And if we don’t, will you still defend our results? Will you change tact and state that “Oldham beat Liverpool in the Mickey Mouse Cup so must be good”???

Give over..... Vaughan won’t have come to play for a side happy to consolidate in L2. And we’d be happy to pay him a wedge to do so?

    Really???!!!

I don’t think some of our fans are really grasping the seriousness of where we are. THAT midfield will end up taking us to the bottom of the heap...!

“Grimsby dug in and earned a draw”? They were the better bleeding team. They deserved more than a draw. It was us that were digging in....!

Not sure I’ve said that anywhere.

My point is we got our targets and our first choice targets in by the looks of it everywhere. We signed Palmer as one of our midfielders and then maybe we couldn’t get in another that we wanted?

It’s hypothetical scenarios. I’m asking a question, not stating there is no one better than what we got or no one out there.

I think we were after Mayor for example but he went to Plymouth. How do we know others are not the same? Devine et al would then be cover as and when required.

But for the manager to be happy and content to get a draw at home against a 10man team is inexcusable. What part of that aren’t you getting? I’m not interested in how they got on in their other games.

Bradford City should have enough about them to beat a team playing with 10 men and shouldn’t be content with a point. Bowyer wanted to not lose (at home) MORE than he wanted to win. Let that sink in.

And then to be played off the park by the mighty Grimsby? They were the better team but guilty of poor finishing and good defending (see, not all negative from me), saw them restricted to a point.

    And you’re happy with that???

So we could have signed good quality players next summer?

I ask again, has Vaughan signed for us to be frustrated week after week? Will he be happy that we are content to finish mid-table at best?

I don’t believe he (or any of the signings) will be

Played off the park by Grimsby? Are you joking?

1-1 was a fair result. They created very little by way of clear cut chances and so did we. They maybe slightly edged it being the home side, but played off the park suggests we got pumped. We did not. They are very direct and had a few corners but we restricted them to very little. They would not have scored had Hanson’s header not got deflected imo.

We had 4 shots on target to there 3. 1-1 fair result

The point being that Devine shouldn’t even be near the squad. Had we signed a Mayor (for example), then Akpan becomes bench warmer, not Devine. No point buying guns without bullets or cannons without cannonballs. Neglecting midfield is inexcusable and wasting wages on the likes of Devine, Anderson and Colville, which could have been used to get someone like Mayor over the line is poor judgement. Quality over quantity all day long

If that’s the case and we got mayor and get got Injured or suspended who we bring in? And mayor would probs not have been a wage issue. He likes Lowe and wanted to play under him

I don’t rate our midfield but we are hamstrung by the budget that’s left.

We got the priority areas right. We had one poor, in most fans view, attacker in Doyle on the books. We had to sign 2 and we got two good ones.

Our defence was woeful last season and we look to have good options back there. We’ve maybe just ran out of budget now and it’s another 2 loans as we can’t shift players on?

The last time we were in the shit like we were last season was when Jacko left and Parkinson took over. Parkinson took a while to sort that shit out and even some of his signings at the time were sneered at , but it came good eventually. Now Bowyer is in the same boat and it will take longer than the 5 or 6 months he’s had to sort out the mess and he’s even said that it will take 2 or 3 windows to get his squad in place. I can understand that a lot of our fans have got high expectations of their club but they also need to have realistic views of the situation that Bowyer walked into. Half of his budget was taken up with the shite that he couldn’t release at the end of the season ,and with the capture of Vaughan and Donaldson plus Paudie O’Connor , that would have taken a wedge off the other half of his budget. He brought in another 7 players so he didn’t have much of an option but to offer contracts to Anderson , Devine and Colville just to have some squad depth. Some say he should have brought in just a decent midfielder instead of those 3 but would they have been enough money left to afford a decent midfielder and if he had done that and he got injured straight away then we wouldn’t have had much cover. Bowyer did a decent job at both Blackburn and Blackpool in a similar situation and he needs time to get his own squad together before the knives are out for his head. We had a good few years before Edin took just a couple of years to ruin it , and some fans think that 6 months of Bowyers reign is enough to get it back then all I can say is that they need to be more realistic and cut the guy some slack and let him get on with the rebuilding of our club.

As I said, if Mayor or whoever was brought in, got injured, we’d still have Akpan or even better, AO’C. These players, like Doyle, are contracted so there’s little we can do. Signing the likes of Devine, Anderson & Colville were unnecessary and if true budget is tight, makes it even more baffling. Those 3 could be earning between £3k to £4k between them. That’s an extra £150k to £200k in the budget, enough for 1-2 decent players at this level

Jack Payne has never played for Blackpool, are you confusing him with Jay Spearing?
